Mark Higgins awarded the Football NSW Fair Play award

This award is for the display of an exceptional example of fair play during football activities in season 2009 within Football NSW. The award commenced in 2008 which Granville?s Brendon Bright took out the inaugural award.
Mark was nominated by Blacktown Association following a match coaching his young rising squad.
On Saturday 25th July 2009, Parklea were playing Kings Langley in a normal fixture. A Kings Langley player had miss-kicked the ball which went straight to his own keeper who picked the ball up. The referee incorrectly ruled that it was deemed a back pass and gave a direct penalty instead of an indirect free-kick.
Mark then instructed his player to kick it wide which he did in respect to the incorrect decision made by the referee.
This action truly displayed what junior sport and fair play is all about.
Football NSW wishes to acknowledge Mark Higgins on winning the 2009 Football NSW Fair Play award.
