Rob

Varela, a former National Soccer League player with the Melita Eagles in the late 70?s who also played with South Australian State League outfit Cumberland United and for the Melbourne Buffalos in Futsal was delighted upon his appointment as Australian Futsal?s new number two.
?It is obviously a great thrill for me to have been appointed as the assistant coach which I understand will be a big challenge but one that I am really looking forward to.?
Varela has already worked with Knight and has established a good connection with the new Australian Men?s Futsal coach.
?We worked together at the NSW State Academy this year and formed a very good relationship which I am confident will carry over with the Australian Futsal Men?s side.
?I know it will be a busy next two months as we will be flying interstate watching various Futsal matches and scouting for players to represent Australia in next February?s Asian Championship Qualifiers in Jakarta.?
Varela has been involved with the sport since 1984 and holds a Level 2 Australian Futsal License as well as a Level 1 Spanish License. Robert has also coached several teams at national level as well as Australian Youth teams and has experience overseas as well.
