The seven-member team of Gian Sacco, Nicholas Tangallo, Martin Fernandes, Luke Ivanovic, Ricardo Rizzo, Tyrese Francois and Alexander Houliaras captured the title with a 5-4 win over the Sutherland Shire in the grand final.
Luke, Martin, Tyrese, Alexander and Gian all scored goals in the decider as Fusion capped off a perfect tournament with six wins from three preliminary and three knockout games.
Liverpool coach Robert Sacco said the boys played a near-flawless match in the grand final after cruising through their knockout rounds with a 7-2 win in the quarter finals and a 4-2 win in the semis.
?The kids are overwhelmed, it?s the first major tournament they have won,? Sacco told the Leader.
“They all play for outdoor teams in the Southern Districts Soccer Football Association and we have only been together for a month and had only three or four games in preparation for the tournament.
“For them to gel so quickly shows that they are all talented individual players.
“There wasn?t much as a coach that I could do, they?re all skilful and naturally gifted.??
Fusion is now preparing for its next tournament in the McDonald?s Cup in Sutherland at the end of the month.
Sacco said his charges were keen to keep their unbeaten record intact and add another piece of silverware to their trophy cabinet.
“If the boys play the same way they did in at the state championships, they should do very well,?? he said.
“They need to play with the same enthusiasm, commitment and effort they showed at the state championships, and if they can do that they will go close to taking it out.??
