K-League club Daejeon Citizen FC call Valentine Sports Park home for pre-season camp

A gruelling pre-season schedule has been outlined by Daejeon Citizen FC coaching staff as they arrived at Football NSW?s headquarters on the 6th of January where they will be taking part in utilising the fantastic surfaces of Valentine Sports Park with its hi-tech facilities as well as playing six matches against NSW Premier and Super League outfits.
Nicknamed the ?Purple Crew? and formed in 1997, Daejeon Citizen FC Manager Wang Sun-Jae is hoping that 2010 heralds a good year for Korea?s first community based club with a hopeful challenge for the K-League title.
The Koreans will lock horns against some of the best NSW has to offer by taking on Lee Sterrey?s Marconi Stallions at Valentine Sports Park on the 27th of January.
The 3rd of February will see Daejeon Citizen FC tackle 2009 NSW Premier League Premiers Sydney United at Valentine Sports Park.
The 4th of February will see Daejeon Citizen FC venture off to the Bonnyrigg Sports Centre to take on Brian ?Bomber? Brown?s Bonnyrigg White Eagles before once again playing at Valentine Sports Park against Manly United on the 6th of February.
The K-League club?s final match will be against PCYC Parramatta Eagles at Valentine Sports Park on the 9th of February.
All matches will commence at 7pm with a number of the NSW Premier and State League club?s looking forward to their battle against the Korean outfit.
Daejeon Citizen is predominately made up of Korean players but also has 3 foreigners with two Brazilians and a Serbian in their player roster.
Daejeon are known for being Korea?s first ever community club as they do not belong to any specific company such as the majority of K-League clubs and were crowned Korean FA Cup Champions in 2001 as well as Korean Super Cup runners up in 2002 and Hauzen Cup Runners up in 2004.
