The Eagles girls worked their socks off to hold and frustrate the Quake the whole game and it worked a treat as the talented Quake side couldn?t get their game going.
Eventually the goals went in for the Eagles at the other end with Fabiana Perfilio bagging a fine double late in the game.
In an even opening of few chances Claire Walsh came close after combining well with Lauren Ralston, Tani Rosekelley saved a shot from Linda Dudek and Quake keeper Ashley Brown produced a great block to deny Melissa Link.
After 6 minutes the Eagles hit the front when Fabiana Perfilio determinedly fought her way through the middle of the court and hit a shot across the keeper that Melissa Link got a foot on to brilliantly slide in at the far post to make it 1-0.
The Quake kept their passing game going and came close when Stephanie Haim made a nice run and hit an angled shot that flashed just across the face of goal.
Brooke Cowie had a shot tipped over by Ashley Brown, Renee Tomkins had a shot saved and Nicole Laws shot wide.
The Quake kept up the pressure to score but were searching for their killer passing game as the Eagles were there to close them down and frustrate every time.
Ashley Francis hit a sudden shot from the sideline that Tani Rosekelley got a hand to and Laura Donnelly fired over from a tight angle.
The Quake came out in the second half with renewed vigour to try and break down Sydney City and get back in the game with Leesa Thompson forcing a good save from Tani Rosekelley.
Melissa Link teed up Brooke Cowie and her shot produced a fine save from Ashley Brown.
The Quake came very close to equalising when a long throw down court saw Stephanie Haim rise up and back head the ball goalwards only to see Tani Rosekelley fly high and brilliantly turn the ball over for a corner.
The close attempt from Stephanie Haim could have been the spark the Quake were looking for to ignite their game but as occurs so often in Futsal the opposite happens.
The Eagles cleared the corner and in an instant they counter attacked fast as Renee Tomkins latched onto the ball on the left side and slammed it across the keeper into the net to make it 2-0.
Tomkins almost made it three soon after but for a fine save from Ashley Brown.
The Quake were working hard to break the Eagles defence down. Rosekelley came out quickly to thwart Claire Walsh, Caitlin Jarvie hit a fierce drive that produced a fine save from Tani Rosekelley and Stephanie Haim fired just wide.
Late in the game the Sydney City Eagles sealed the match when Fabiana Perfilio chased a ball down into the right side corner which many players would have given up on. With the keeper rushing back she hit an inch perfect shot that just squeezed inside the post to score a great goal and the Eagles third to send the Eagles contingent into cheers of delight.
Moments later Fabiana?s joy was doubled as she combined with Melissa Link to score her second goal and nail a comprehensive 4-0 victory for the Eagles.
The excellent Quake side just couldn?t get their game going but were in very good company as it was a great day for the underdog as the favourites were toppled all day in the Premier League Grand Finals.
The Eagles set up a great defensive screen with Melissa Link, Brooke Cowie and Tani Rosekelley holding the defence and each player performing their role brilliantly to chase and frustrate their opponents off their game and carve out the openings from which they profited from. In the end the Eagles ran out deserved victors 4-0.
