State League Division Two Round 15 Preview

Prospect United face Springwood United in a battle royale at Summerhayes Park on Saturday night (7pm). Springwood produced a stunning 2-0 upset of league leaders Roosters last week and will try and cram their two catch-up games over the next week to build a solid platform towards landing a finals position. After a decent run of results Prospect were beaten by Belmore last week but will fondly remember a round-four encounter that saw them overturn Springwood?s halftime lead for a fine 2-1 win.
Hurstville City Minotaurs clash with Roosters FC in a high-roller?s contest at Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday afternoon (3pm). Hurstville did well to end a month-long run of disappointing results and blunt a capable Luddenham 2-0 last week, while Roosters copped their own 0-2 loss to Springwood. Whether the Minotaurs can continue on their merry way will be tested by the Roosters. In round four, a 0-0 stalemate was broken by a goal to each side in the final five minutes for a 1-1 draw. Expect fireworks.
Luddenham United host an embattled Hawkesbury City at Luddenham Oval on Sunday afternoon (3pm). After nine weeks of unbeaten results, Luddenham has crashed with consecutive defeats to Roosters and Hurstville. They remain well in the mix but, after scoring 18 goals during that golden run and none since, United will now be wary of a Hawkesbury side that has played well without reward this year. Just about every opposition coach has paid tribute to City?s tenacity and effort. Now is their time to pounce.
Fairfield Bulls take on Gazy Lansvale in a cross-town derby at Knight Park on Sunday afternoon (3pm). Fairfield has been on the rise of late, winning four of their last five and grabbing points in all but two of their last 11 matches. They even crushed Hawkesbury 3-0 last week. Gazy have been up and down like a yo-yo this year but have the motivation to beat their neighbours after copping a 4-2 loss in round four. Lansvale clung to a three goal lead to beat Wanderers 3-2 last week. They will need that strength again.
Also at Knight Park on Sunday afternoon, Wanderers play strugglers Hakoah at Knight Park (3pm). Last year?s champions have also had a case of the stutters this season and Wanderers would prefer more consistent results. A 1-1 draw with Roosters was followed by a 2-3 loss to Gazy last week, and they only just beat Hakoah 2-1 in their round four clash. Hakoah have been dead unlucky in 2010. They have just one win to their name, but it is four draws and five one-goal losses that has sabotaged their campaign.
