At lovely rural Nowra football complex it was Metro Far South that put paid to the best efforts of Metro West to peg them back when they defeated Metro North 3-1 after watching Metro West temporarily grab the lead earlier in the morning when they defeated Metro East 4-0.  So after a week, we have Metro Far South as State Titles Champions with 22 points from runners up Metro West with 21 points.  The competition for the Country Championship was just as fierce, with Riverina doing Southern the favour by defeating Western 1-0 this morning.  This left all three teams on four points, but it was Country Southern who won out on goal difference, from Country Western and Country Riverina.

COUNTRY U/11 CHAMPIONS ? COUNTRY SOUTHERN
Another glorious day in Wagga Wagga at the majestic Rawlings Park saw Metro Far South make it a double with a very tight 1-0 victory over a gallant Metro South (I think I even noticed the State ?keeper, Blakey playing striker up front for Metro South).  Metro East earlier in the day had done all they could do with a good win over Metro West with two rapid-fire goals back to back in the 2nd half to temporarily join Metro Far South in the lead.  Country Southern clearly won the Country Championship but runners-up Country Western that reminded the newly crowned Country Champions that it was not all that easy for them with a great 2-2 draw this morning.

The magnificence of the Quarry Sporting Complex at Kiama was equally matched by the dynamic performances of the Metro East team who completed a perfect State Titles  with an emphatic 5-2 victory of Metro West this morning to record thei 8th straight win from 8 matches in these titles.  Metro Far North confirmed their second placing with a good 4-1 win over Country Riverina.  Country Western stood up on the last day to be counted and were able to leap-frog Country Riverina by a fantastic 1-0 victory over Metro North.  Country Riverina were unable to maintain their lead in the Country Championship by going down 1-4 to Metro Far North.

At the very expansive Proctor Park Football Complex the competition had all come down to the last day with everyone?s eyes on young coach Damian Briggs and his Metro West team attempting to maintain their points lead over Metro South, being coached by the ol? hound-dog Steve Mayer.  Metro West were on centre stage first and it was 3rd placed Metro East that was to spoil the party for the western suburbs boys when they defeated Metro West 2-1 and the door was open for Metro South.  Metro South were never going to miss this fantastic opportunity to grab all the glory on the final day and they defeated Country Southern team to the tune of four goals to nil.  In the battle for the Country Championship this also went down to the wire with Country Riverina hanging on to win by just one point on nine points from Southern on eight and Western on seven points.

So that was it for another July State Titles and after speaking with many players, parents, supporters and officials at every venue, these titles were right up there with the very best ever staged.  This only happens with the magnificent commitment from the volunteers at these venues, such as Kelvin and Grant at Bathurst, Phil and Terry at Nowra, Don, Zoran and John at Kiama and of course the outstanding Donna Baker, Denise and all their team at Wagga Wagga.  I thank you all on behalf of Football NSW, you are truly professionals and very dedicated people.
Thanks also to the referees who were all very well drilled, very well managed by their senior managers and finally to all the parents who make not only a massive commitment time-wise, but also financially.
Finally to Kim, who kept it all together back in the office all week.
