ONE TO WATCH: There tends to be a fixation with identifying talented young players from the major capital cities but players like 13yo SALLY LYNCH are trying to address that. The talented young defender from Albury in NSW has been rewarded for consistent performances in the last 12 months with selection in a 30-person Australian squad which was cut down to 22 players for the recent AFC Festival of Football in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
STAR OF THE WEEK: It’s very rare to find not one but two players with over 35 successive years of playing service at the one club. MARTIN WHITE & SHANE FRANCIS have been friends for many years but have no thoughts of retiring from playing 035s football with the Caringbah Redbacks in Sydney. You wonder how long they will keep on playing!!
COACHING: Matildas coach TOM SERMANNI, who is currently planning Australia’s strategy for the 2011 Women’s World Cup, returns for another specialized coaching drill – the volley!!
CELEBRITY CHALLENGE: It’s proving to be one of our most popular segments. Who would have thought Olympic Champion Libby Trickett would set the pace in Episode Five with 20 points – 10 more than Bondi Vet Dr Chris Brown and Bondi Rescue’s Deano Gladstone!! This week, Sydney Swans star and former junior footballer – ADAM GOODES – takes up the Challenge!!
FUTSAL: It’s certainly one of the fastest growing sports in the world and Australia has been very consistent on the world stage. Futsalroo and former Italian-based professional GREG GIOVENALI joins us to explain the advantages of playing FUTSAL along with NSW Futsal coach JAMIE AMENDOLIA and some of the junior players from the Sydney City Futsal Academy.
MY CLUB: One young player gets the chance to play reporter each week and LIAM POWER is the young man who takes us behind the scenes at the NARRABEEN Football Club on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. It’s a real family affair at the Boondah Fields and Liam shows he’s more than adept at “playing a tune” off the field as well!!
NSWPL MATCH OF THE ROUND: It’s the penultimate round of the 2010 NSWPL competition. Will leaders BONNYRIGG WHITE EAGLES lift the trophy away to struggling SYDNEY OLYMPIC? There’s also highlights of the SOUTH COAST WOLVES home match against the WEST SYDNEY BERRIES.
GOAL OF THE WEEK: It’s certainly a Goal of the Week with a big difference. We take a close look at some of the magic goals from the NSW THUNDER U15s FUTSAL side at the recent National Championships in Canberra. There are some cracking goals in this tribute.
