The famous McDonalds Champion of Champions tournament commenced in 1972 and is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the Football NSW calendar, with the champions from each association pitted against each other in a knock-out completion in a battle for supremacy and the claim to be the Champion of Champions.
This year will be an historic event as it will be the final McDonalds Champion of Champions tournament conducted at the famous, but very well used Football NSW Headquarters, Valentine Sports Park as a housing development will replace our famous football fields whilst initial work on our new and exciting home at Riverstone will begin, with expectations to be ready for play in 2013.
This weekend (Round 1) will see over 100 Sydney metropolitan teams travel to many Country areas, ranging from Griffith and South West Slopes in the far South/West to Shoalhaven, Southern Tablelands, Highlands and Illawarra in the South, Central Coast in the North and out west to Lithgow, Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo.
The 2010 McDonalds Champion of Champions will also feature extra age groups with the inclusion of the Under 21 Women, the Over 30 Women and the Over 45 Men?s age categories.
With the extra age groups, it is now necessary to conduct the Finals over two days and this will occur on Saturday 23rd October with all the Women?s Finals together with the Over 45 Men Final. On Sunday 24th October all other age Finals will be conducted.
The final 2010 McDonalds Champion of Champions tournament at Valentine Sports Park will be an historic and festive weekend with many other attractions apart from the excitement of Champion of Champions Finals.
