Eagles Blitz Raiders to go top of the table.
It didn?t take long for the experienced Eagles to flex their muscles with the competitions inform player Renee Tomkins opening the scoring after 3 minutes with a powerful strike low to the keepers right which gave Raiders custodian Edwards no chance.
Five minutes later Tomkins was back at it again. This time receiving the ball mid court from Jodie Bain. The blonde headed assassin showed the Raiders what she could do with her right foot she could do even better with her left as she unleased a venomous strike from mid court which went under Edwards to make it 2-0.
The Raiders tried to move the ball and had a few wayward shots but none that troubled stand in goal keeper Lauren Vosota.13 minutes in and the Raiders had a mountain to climb as a well worked short corner ended with the experienced Amanda Bowering finding the far corner to give the Eagles a 3-0 half time lead. Incredibly it only took the Eagles 6 seconds into the second half to get their next shot on goal as Jodie Bain hit the post after a nice 1-2 with Melissa Link.
Raiders had a great opportunity through Jessica Hurst to pull one back when she was 1 on 1 with Vosota but Hurst could find a way past the young Eagles keeper.
The Eagles then extended their lead 6 minutes into the second half when Bain found Link who in turn passed the ball wide to a free Fabiana Perfillio who took one touch, drew the keeper and squard the ball to Link to tap in to an unguarded net. 30 seconds later, Perfillio pressed on Mc Mahon and won the ball, knocked it to an oncoming train like Jodie Bain who unleashed a venomous shot to make it 2 goals in a minute for the Eagles.
Fabiana Perfillio was again the architect behind the next goal, it was again her tenacity who dispossessed a Raider who then found Stephanie Ascone who at her second opportunity after a good first up save smashed the ball into the roof of the net to further increase the Eagles lead.
The Eagles next goal came from a neat passing movement where Jodie Bain played a nice square ball to the awaiting Melissa Link on the back post to score with 2 minutes to go. Jasmina Kasic then had a free kick which could?ve brought a slight smile to the home crowd but her free kick went soaring over the bar.
The Raiders were once again their worst enemy, this time is was Amanda Bowering who dispossessed a raiders defender who knocked another great back post to Jodie Bain who with the slightest of touches tapped the ball home to end the Raiders nightmare.
The Eagles certainly looked the goods in this game and are without doubt right on track to replicate last seasons title winning season.
