Balgownie hosts Football NSW Centenary Cup 2011 on Tuesday
The Centenary Cup is an annual competition for the Metropolitan Representative League Grade 12 teams and Country and interstate representative teams and provides four days of excellent competition and introduces the players to their first taste of tournament football.
Every team in the Grade 12 Metropolitan Representative League have entered this event, and will be joined by representative teams from Southern Tablelands, and Northern Tasmania as well as the local Balgownie team.
State coaches and selectors from the High Performance Unit will be on hand to run a critical eye over all players with a view to inclusion in scholarship programs and ultimately the state teams.
To be held during the school holidays, over four days from Tuesday 12th to Friday 15th April 2011 we will see 20 teams play in the tournament.
2010 saw Southern Districts Soccer Football Association take out the title after playing some outstanding football during a very full week of competition. This victory followed the 2009 victory by St George Association.
The referees will be from the elite Premier Youth squad who will work closely with the local referees. All referees fees will be paid by Football NSW.
