Alex Glasgow named NSW State League Football Referee of the Year

The Awards night brought together members of the premier refereeing body to celebrate their 2011 Season achievements.
NSW Sport Minister, the Honorable Graham Annesley MP, was one of many VIP guests for the evening. He presented Alex Glasgow with the prestigious Referee of the Year Award.
Also present on the night was FFA Director of Referees Mark Shield, Football NSW Director Greg O?Rourke and Football NSW Referee Manager Richard Lorenc.
On the night there were many awards presented in various categories and life members that attended were presented with the new Life Member Badge. A moving tribute was given to many deceased former members.
Recognition awards were presented to George Alexander, Jim Prodanovich for their contribution and support to the refereeing and football fraternity.
The late Bill Lodge?s was also recognised on the night for his outstanding services to refereeing and to NSW State League Football Referees. Bill Lodge daughter Kerrie-Ann was delighted to receive the award.
On behalf of the premier body, branch coach Alex Spiroski presented Sarah Ho with a beautiful bunch of flowers in recognition of her fantastic achievement of being awarded this year?s AFC Women?s Assistant Referee of the Year.
This year saw two new awards presented, the under 20 referee of the year award. This award acknowledges the best referee in the under 20 competition category and the Assistant Referees of the year that acknowledges two of the best Assistant Referees within the NSW State League.
President of the NSWSLFR Robert Colombo was delighted that everyone enjoyed themselves and was pleased to hear positive feedback throughout the night. ?This night is all about the referees celebrating with their partners that supported them throughout the season? commented Robert.
The successful night was filled with great entertainment and many lucky door prizes were handed out.
A raffle was also held during the evening and a happy Sarah Ho walked away with some very nice David Jones gift vouchers amongst other goodies.
