State League Two Round 4 Preview

state_06

State League Two clubs didn?t get much of a break over Easter as they were involved in some difficult mid-week round 1 Waratah Cup matches.
The results have been unpredictable to say the least as Nepean FC and Prospect United are the only two clubs that have progressed to round 2, with West City and Hakoah due to play on Wednesday night.
Prospect United vs Hakoah
Saturday, 14 April 2012 @ 5-00pm at William Lawson Reserve
Two undefeated sides will lock horns on Saturday night as Prospect welcome Hakoah to William Lawson Reserve.
United will look to put in a good performance against the League Two heavyweights on their home turf. Prospect are yet to lose this year and will be full of confidence after edging a win over Coogee United to book their place in round 2 of the Waratah Cup.
Hakoah will expect nothing less than all 3 points as they continue to chase early leaders Bathurst 75. Neil Jablonski was kept relatively quiet against Nepean and will no doubt look to make amends come Saturday. Midfield dynamo Jordan Mundell had a busy game against Nepean as he looks set to influence his side?s domination.
In the same fixture last year, neither side could be separated with the score finishing 1-1, however Hakoah were too good at home, securing a comfortable 3-0 win.
Mountains United vs Nepean FC
Saturday, 14 April 2012 @ 7-00pm at Summerhayes Park
Mountains United welcome local rivals Nepean to their headquarters for a Saturday night kick off.
United demolished FC Gazy 4-1 in round 3 to secure their first win of the season and were unlucky to go down midweek to end their Waratah Cup run. Mountains United will now be more focused on their league form and will look to the goal scoring prowess of Michael Haberman, Peter Henderson and Bryan Campbell to deliver on Saturday night.
Nepean put up a good fight against Hakoah and will be disappointed to come away with nothing for their efforts. Nepean had previously been frustrated by the wet weather and will now feel better equipped for their clash against United having progressed to Waratah Cup round 2 with a solid showing against Doonside Hawks midweek.
Nepean won at Summerhayes last season, securing all 3 points with a tight 1-0 win while at Cook Park both sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Bathurst 75 vs Luddenham United
Saturday, 14 April 2012 @ 7-00pm at Alec Lamberton Field
Arguably the match of the round pits League Two?s early frontrunners against Luddenham at Bathurst on Saturday night.
Mark Rooke?s Bathurst 75 has had a dream start to 2012 and sits clear at the top of the table with 3 wins from 3. James Christie has been in scintillating form, notching up 4 goals to lead the scorer?s charts while Corey Adair has played his part, with 2 goals of his own.
Luddenham have played very little football this season due to the weather and would love nothing more than to knock a gleaming Bathurst side off their perch to kick-start their season.
Luddenham were successful in their travels to Bathurst last season, coming away 2-1 winners while convincingly disposing of Bathurst 5-2 at home. Bathurst have used the underdogs tag to their advantage thus far but will no longer be afforded the luxury as Luddenham will be expecting a difficult trip out West.
Hurstville City Minotaurs vs Belmore United
Saturday, 14 April 2012 @ 3-00pm at Punchbowl Oval
Hurstville welcome Belmore United to Punchbowl Oval for a Saturday afternoon kick-off
Hurstville went down 4-3 to Hawkesbury in their rescheduled round 3 away fixture over Easter and will be looking forward to their first home game of the season against an unpredictable Belmore outfit. Michael Di Meglio and Sasho Stevoski both found the net against the Hawks and will look to put the Minotaurs back amongst the winners list.
Belmore marked their first home game in round 3 with a convincing win against West City FC. Christos Dimitriou and Chris Kartambis have both had solid starts to the season and will be hoping to continue their goal scoring form against a wounded Minotaurs side.
The away side stole the show in both fixtures last season as Belmore won 3-1 at Punchbowl Oval while Hurstville beat Belmore 3-1 at Blick Oval. This game looks as though it will be close again as both sides will be desperate for the 3 points.
West City FC vs Western Condors FC
Sunday, 15 April 2012 @ 3-00pm at Chopin Park
West City has had a disappointing start to the season and will look to bounce back this Sunday when they welcome Western Condors to Chopin Park.
West City will be hugely disappointed with their start to the season, losing both their opening fixtures. Danny Abboud knows it will take time for his new side to click but will be hoping his charges can put together an improved display come Sunday.
Western Condors are yet another side to taste victory this season and will be hoping they can assemble a challenge against a West City side that has a lot to prove.
Western Condors ran out 3-0 winners in the same fixture last season and backed it up with a 1-0 win at home to take all the points on offer. With both sides starting slowly, this one could go either way.
FC Gazy vs Hawkesbury City SC
Sunday, 15 April 2012 @ 3-00pm at Cherrybrook Park
FC Gazy play host to the high flying Hawkesbury City Hawks on Sunday afternoon.
FC Gazy are another side that have had limited time on the park due to the wet weather and will play their rescheduled fixture against Hurstville on Wednesday night before tackling the Hawks on Sunday afternoon.
Hawkesbury City beat a gallant Hurstville side over the Easter weekend in a thrilling 4-3 win and confidence levels will be sky high in the Hawks camp as they travel to Cherrybrook Park on Sunday.
Hawkesbury came away with all 6 points over the two meetings between the clubs last season and form points to another Hawks victory this weekend.
Rescheduled Round 3 Fixture
Hawkesbury City 4 (G Hartge 41m E Simone 72m D Smith 83m R Carle 89m) Hurstville City Minotaurs 3 (M Di Meglio 29m S Stevoski 59/76m)
5-00pm, Saturday, 7 April @ Bensons Lane Field
Hawkesbury City continued their climb up the ladder as they scored two late goals to beat Hurstville City on Saturday night.
Michael Di Meglio opening the scoring for the visitors in the 29? minute but Gavin Hartge equalised for the home side just before half-time.
Sasho Stevoski put the Minotaurs back in front on 59? minutes but Hawkesbury?s towering defender Ethan Simone pinned a goal back on 72? minutes.
Sasho Stevoski grabbed his second for the night just 4? minutes later to put Hurstville in front with only 15? minutes spare but the Hawks determination paid dividends as Dane Smith equalised in the 83? minute before Rob Carle grabbed the all important winner in the dying stages of the game.
RESERVE GRADE: Hawkesbury City 3 Hurstville City Minotaurs 1.
