State League One Round 7 Preview

The Saturday evening match up at Arlington Oval between Stanmore Hawks and Fairfield City Lions is between two clubs who uncharacteristically find themselves in the bottom half of the competition ladder.
The Hawks have really struggled to find results to match their performances of late, and will find it harder still this weekend being without inspirational skipper, David James, serving a suspension as a result of his red card last weekend vs UNSW.
Fairfield City Lions have only played four matches so far, two less than most sides in the competition, but nevertheless, coach Aydin Cetinay cannot be happy with the solitary win, so will have his troops all charged up and ready to fire in this ?six pointer?.
Ernie Smith Reserve will host what looms as the match of round on Sunday afternoon, with Mt Druitt Town Rangers making the trip to take on Southern Bulls.
Neither side has registered a draw as yet, whilst both have scored plenty, and conceded almost as much, so you can expect fireworks of sorts as the second placed Rangers look to extend their three point lead on the third placed Bulls.
In other matches on Sunday afternoon, traditional old foes, Schofields Scorpions and Inter Lions, do battle at CSI Sport Ground, UNSW will hope to continue on their winning ways when they travel to meet Hurstville ZFC, whilst two clubs in the bottom three go head to head at Macquarie Uni Sports Field as Northbridge FC welcome Camden Tigers.
If Sunday evening comes around and you still haven?t had your full dose of weekend football, head out to Lambert Park in Leichhardt, where home side, Balmain SC, hope to become the first side to take points off competition front runners, Gladesville Ryde Magic, the match kicking off at 7-00pm.
Balmain are smarting after heir first reverse last weekend, 0-3 against Mt Druitt, and will be looking to stay inside the top five by upsetting the Magic applecart in front of their home fans.
But they have a monster hurdle facing them, up against a Gladesville Ryde Magic side that can seemingly do no wrong. The Magic have won all six matches in 2012 for a perfect 18 from 18 points available, on the back of the best defensive record in the competition ? just three goals conceded for an average of 1 goal per two matches.
