Women’s Premier League Round 7 Preview
The table could be in for a few shake ups, as each and every games result could drastically alter the current table make up. This weeks match of the round sees the two teams sitting near the top go head to head, as NWS Koalas will be taking on the Illawarra Stingrays this Sunday.
NWS Koalas VS Illawarra Stingrays
The Stingrays make the trip to Sydney after being held to a nil all draw by Manly last weekend and will be looking to make amends for the dropping of two competition points. They will not find it easy, coming to the home pitch of the NWS Koalas who are sitting just behind them on the competition table and are very difficult to beat at home. This game has all the earmarks of being a hard fought tight match, with both sides needing maximum points. Sunday 3pm @ ELS Hall Park.
Marconi Stallion VS Blacktown Spartans
The Stallions, after their defeat by the students last week will be looking to get back into the winning vein, sitting at the wrong end of the table the Stallions will be eager to move up the ladder to consolidate their position as one of the preseason favourites. Standing in their way will be the Blacktown Spartans who were disappointed to drop to competition points against Northbridge last week, returning to their side will be, Zoe Kalas and Kathryn Mladineo, with their goal keeper Tani Rosekelly hoping to return thus strengthening the team and are looking forward to taking full three competition points this weekend. Sunday 3pm @ Marconi Oval.
Central Coast Mariners Academy VS Northbridge FC
Central Coast Mariners Academy have had a mixed bag of results lately, and this week find themselves taking on the bottom team of the competition and would be looking to this game to launch their climb up the table and to find some consistent form. Northbridge buoyed by their first point against the Spartans will be looking to go one further to take all three points at home this weekend. The team will be strengthened by the return of Captain Rosie Toner and the debut of Newcastle Jets Goal Keeper Alison Logue and the team are looking to take their chances on the field. Sunday 3pm Pluim Park No 1.
Gladesville VS Macarthur Rams
Gladesville Ravens will be hoping that the home ground advantage will make it difficult for the visitors Macarthur Rams, who have swept all before them in previous weeks. However the Rams led in grand fashion by Renee Rollason, Kylie Ledbrook and Renne Cartwright who have been consistently hitting the back of the net, Gladesville will have their hands full to try and hold back the tide. Sunday 3pm @ Magdala Reserve.
Manly United FC VS Sydney University
Manly back on their home ground, after meritorious draw with Illawarra Stingrays last week in a game which they could have attained all three points will no doubt be looking for maximum against the students who have turned out to be the surprise packet of the competition. Sydney has climbed up the table without losing a match and is sure not to be generous with the home team. This should turn out to be a hard fought game with neither side giving an inch. Sunday 3pm @ Cromer Park.
Sutherland Shire vs. Inter Lions
Sutherland Shire, coming off a heavy defeat by the Rams will be looking to consolidate against Inter Lions who have had very mixed results lately. The Shire at home would be hoping to keep their goal intact and get their defensive shape and discipline right so as not to concede another heavy defeat as last week. This may be hard to do against an Inter Lions side who has shown that they can score goals through many avenues, but sometimes this is countered by their defensive efforts. A very hard result to predict, as both teams will be looking to keep a clean sheet if possible. Sunday 3pm @ Harrie Dening Centre.
NSWIS vs. NWS Koalas
Valentines Sport Park on the 9th of May could well hold the key depending on match results for the weekend for the top position on the table. NSWIS undefeated this season also the leading goal scoring team in the competition will be looking to consolidate their place at the top of the table when they take on the NWS Koalas. A lot will depend on NWS Koalas vs. Illawarra Stingrays match on Sunday, as where the teams will be at kick off. NWS Koalas, coming off a very difficult game on the weekend, whereas NSWIS will be the fresher side for the encounter.
