Women’s Premier League Round 8 Preview
This weeks round of the match will Gladesville Ravens VS Sutherland Shire, both teams put on a strong show in last weeks round, coming up against teams much higher on the table and not only standing their ground, one even proving to be victorious.
Gladesville Ravens VS Sutherland Shire
Gladesville proved last week that no team should underestimate them; striking from the bottom of the table they managed to fight to a draw against the Macarthur Rams who currently sit equal third on the table. Meanwhile, Sutherland have taken many by surprise defeating early season high scorers Inter Lions, so with these two teams clashing it is hard to say what is in store. A win and a few strategic loses from the rest of the competition could see either team jump start their way to the top, and neither side will give this game away easily. Sunday 3pm @ Peel Park.
Blacktown Spartans FC VS Manly United Blacktown Football Park
Manly will be looking to keep the run they have got going, with an ample amount of wins and coming to a draw against the competition favourites Illawarra they have shown their strength and will be sparing no quarter when they come up against the Blacktown Spartans this weekend. Playing at home, the Spartans will be going all in for the three points, as a win could see them escape the current deadlock at the middle of the table. Sunday 3pm @ Blacktown Football Park.
Illawarra Stingrays VS Inter Lions J.J. Kelly Park
Two teams who will be looking to regain their success on the park will find themselves clashing on the field this weekend. Illawarra after two draws in a row will be itching to get back into the groove of winning and Inter Lions will have to bear the full weight of their strength. Likewise, the Inter Lions after a recent spate of losses will want to hit back and show that they are a team to watch out for in this year?s competition. Will the all-out offensive style be able to beat Illawarra on their home turf, one can only wait and see. Sunday 3pm @ J.J. Kelly Park.
Macarthur Rams VS Northbridge
Northbridge have seen shown their improvement over the last rounds, scoring two points in two weeks, but they will have a tough game ahead of them as they go up against the Macarthur Rams at home, who have proven to be a not only a tough side to be, but one capable of dominating the game. Northbridge will be missing Thea Slatyer, which will not only see a hit to their playing power, but also their morale and they will need it as they will be in for a full 90 minute battle. Sunday 3pm @ Lynwood Park.
Central Coast Mariners Academy VS Marconi Stallions
Marconi is traveling to the Central coast this weekend to take on the Central Coast Mariners Academy on their home turf and it should prove to be a tough match. As the young team has begun to develop over the season, they shown they have what it takes to bring the fight to the more experienced teams and Marconi will be looking to match that game as both teams currently sit tied neck and neck on the table, and neither will want to forfeit the points to slip. 3pm Sunday @ Pluim Park No.1.
Sydney University VS NWS Koalas
A match which is sure to be a treat for all those in attendance, the students will see the NWS Koalas challenging them at their home ground this week. Both teams have shown their high scoring potential as they floated about the top of the chart in the preceding weeks, now as it begins to take shape Sydney University will be looking to dethrone the Koalas from their position of third on the table and a win for them could see them catapult up to the top rungs. Both teams have everything gain and lose in this game, so both teams will be bringing their all. Sunday 3pm @ Wentworth Park.
NSWIS VS Sutherland Shire
Sutherland has a busy round ahead of them, with not only this weekend?s game but also a midweek clash against the so far undefeated NSWIS side. It will certainly be a tough battle for Sutherland, but it will be a chance to test their mettle and a match of invaluable experience for the young side. 7:15 pm @ Valentine Sports on the 16th of May.
