Waratah Cup Semi Final Feature: Boardman ready to face former club
Brad Boardman, striker for the Fury who will, perhaps come up against former team-mate Nathan Denham between the sticks is eager for the clash on Wednesday.
?It will be a tough game,? says the Fury number 9.
?And I?ll need to be on my game to get one past Nathan (Denham).
?It?s almost like coming home, I have some terrific memories playing for Sutherland, they are a great club and I?m looking forward to the match.?
Denham, on the other hand, isn?t sure he will be playing in the game as Sharks coach Robbie Stanton has preferred to use Simon Jaeger between the sticks in this competition but added.
?It would be good to play against Dapto and especially a great mate in Boardo but we won?t find out who is playing until later in the week when the coach tells us.
?I have thought about playing against them and they are a quality side, they basically have a team of Hyundai A-League players and I include Brad in that as he should be playing at a higher level but if we meet on the park the friendship is forgotten, there will be no love lost between the two of us.
The Sharks custodian admitted. ?Boardo will be a danger and we?ll need to close him down and the supply line to him because on his day he can be devastating in front of goal but I?m sure we?ll have the tactics sorted out and try to ensure he has an off night but he only needs a sniff of goal to be effective but we know him well so we?ll see what happens.
?It?s a game we are looking forward to and it?s the Semi-Final of course so if I play it will be fantastic but if I don?t I will be there to cheer the boys on.?
Boardman readily admits. ?Against Bankstown City FC we had a number of players out and they will be back for this game and even though it?s one game away from a final we will not be looking any further forward than Wednesday night.
?It will be good to catch up with the boys but we?re there to do a job and I think it will be a terrific battle and wonderful cup game for the fans to watch.?
Great mates off the pitch, greater rivals on it and the prospect of a fantastic game as both teams play entertaining football, should be a real corker and certainly one not to miss, Wednesday night, 20th June, 7.15pm kick-off.
