Metro clinch Under 14?s National Championship

But the girls couldn?t celebrate after the final whistle with their fate resting on the following match between Victoria and Queensland.
A Queensland win would?ve seen Metro slip to second but the Victorians snatched the three points, handing a deserving NSW the title.
Nadine Shiels? side was keen to put on a show in their final group outing and it took just three minutes for Georgia Plessas to open the scoring. Plessas has been crucial to Metro?s success this week and she added a second in the 11th minute when she latched onto the end of a Demi Koulizakis cross.
Metro had firm control of the match and their dominance in the midfield meant ACT posed little attacking threat.
On the 14? minute mark, Jacqueline Anyon-Smith chimed in on the action when she got on the end of a rehearsed short corner move to make it 3-0.
There was no reprieve from Metro as they continued to pepper the ACT goal and after a series of long-range efforts failed to hit the target, Natasha Prior tried a more direct approach as she nodded in a powerful header from a corner to give her side a 4-0 lead.
Metro has had a clear focus in attack all week and their game plan didn?t change as the match grew on. In similar fashion to many goals scored this week, Georgia Plessas was put in behind the defence and sent a whipping cross to Demi Koulizakis at the far post for Metro?s fifth.
Forward Shania-Rose Pourrashidi delivered a poacher?s finish from close range after the ACT ?keeper fumbled Natasha Prior?s header.
Metro?s third goal in four minutes game through Demi Koulizakis with the winger linking up with Plessas once more to make the buffer seven goals.
Metro found time for one more goal before half time with Anyon-Smith nabbing her second goal of the match thanks to a curling shot.
Just when the crowd thought the highlights reel was full, Natasha Prior grabbed her brace with another fine header in the 44th minute.
Metro continued to pile the pressure on ACT and Lucy Mackie pushed them into double figures with a long-range effort that sailed over the goalkeeper?s head.
There wasn?t much more Metro could have done to push themselves into a position to win the Championship, but it was only fitting that two of their most consistent players ? Georgia Plessas and Demi Koulizakis ? grabbed their hat tricks.
With Queensland suffering defeat, Metro went three points clear at the top of Group A and continued the dominance of Football NSW at the National Championships in recent years.
Metro will play against the All Stars team at 6pm today.
