As we race toward the halfway point of the competition the so-called “upsets” continue to appear in each of the competitions but surely this is a strong indication that the leagues are more evenly matched that they have been for many seasons and that adds to the entertainment value from each and every match.

 

 

Supa IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 2 – Overview

St George must have been very pleased with the fifteen points they claimed from their clash with Parramatta FC and Sydney University would have been happy with the thirteen points they earned from their encounter with Fraser Park.

Hills Brumbies bagged twelve points from their visit to Bankstown City Lions and Mt Druitt Town Rangers snatched a dozen points from their trip to Spirit FC.

Mounties Wanderers claimed eleven points from the day when they went to Bankstown Berries while Macarthur Rams and Northern Tigers shared the spoils with each club taking nine points from the encounter.

 

Supa IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 2 – Club Championship

Mt Druitt Town Rangers started the day as the leaders on this table as they paid a visit to fourth placed Spirit FC. The Rangers managed to retain their place at the top when they collected nine points from the day while Spirit slipped back one place to fifth.

Sydney University came into this round in second place and they hosted seventh placed Fraser Park. Uni stayed where they were on the ladder thanks to the seven points they gained from these matches while Fraser Park have dropped back to eighth.

Placed third before a ball was kicked, Bankstown Berries were at home to sixth placed Mounties Wanderers. The Berries fell back to fourth when they finished the day with only five points while the Wanderers dropped back to eighth after they also took five points from the encounter.

Hills Brumbies commenced play in fifth place on the ladder when they took the trip to twelfth placed Bankstown City Lions. The Brumbies shot up to third position when they claimed all twelve points from the day and the Lions remained at twelfth.

St George arrived at this round in eighth position and they played host to eleventh placed Parramatta FC. The Saints climbed to sixth spot when they earned nine points from this clash and Parramatta stayed at eleventh.

When the first whistle sounded for the day, Northern Tigers were in ninth place and they were visiting tenth placed Macarthur Rams. The Tigers collected three points from the day but they have remained at ninth and the Rams are still tenth despite earning nine points.

 

Supa IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 2 – Grade 12

With victories coming from all seven of their matches so far, Hills Brumbies came into this match not only as the form team but also as the competition leaders by a margin of six points. They were up against eleventh placed Bankstown City Lions who snapped a losing streak of five matches with a win last week. The news only got better for the Brumbies as they extended their perfect start to the season to eight wins with a 4-1 result over the Lions, an outcome which has left both teams exactly where they were on the table.

After winning their first four matches second placed Sydney University had lost two of their last three games and this week they faced third placed Fraser Park who had won their last four outings. After the scores were locked up at 0-0 at the break, Uni rolled up their sleeves and produced three unanswered goals in the second half to take the points and retain second spot while Fraser Park have slipped back to fifth. 

Spirit FC arrived at this round in fourth position and they had claimed maximum points from their last four matches. Their opponents this week were sixth placed Mt Druitt Town Rangers who had posted a draw and two losses from their last three games. Spirit claimed the points and held onto third place after N. Diab and H. Fleming netted first half goals to give their team a 2-0 victory. The Rangers have dropped back to seventh place.

Placed fifth at kick-off time, Northern Tigers had suffered only their second loss of the season last week and they met eighth placed Macarthur Rams who were experiencing mid-table results with three wins, a draw and three losses to show for their efforts. The Tigers are now in fourth position thanks to their 2-1 success over the Rams who have fallen back to tenth. The goals for the Tigers came from O. Scott and E. Blackwood while H. Jones scored the goal for the Rams.

St George started the day in seventh spot after suffering losses in their two most recent matches while twelfth placed Parramatta FC were seeking to break a seven match losing streak to post their first points for the season. The Saints were elevated to sixth place after they posted a 2-0 win thanks to first half goals from L. Debono and G. Salachoris. Parramatta are still at the foot of the table.

Bankstown Berries kicked off this week’s match in ninth place and they had won two of their last three games after a slow start to the season. Mounties Wanderers were in tenth position and they were coming off a last match win. Both teams moved up one place to eighth and ninth respectively when their clash ended in a 1-1 draw with both goals coming in the second half.

Competition leaders at the start of the day, Bankstown Berries had produced wins from six of their seven games including victories in the last five outings. Mounties Wanderers arrived at the match in second spot with five wins from seven matches. The Berries made it six wins on the trot with a 2-0 result this week with both goals coming in the second half of the match, That leaves the Berries at the top of the ladder and the Wanderers have slipped back to fourth place.

Sydney University were in third position when the firs whistle sounded and they had seen their unbeaten run of six matches come to an end last week when they were beaten. Fraser Park were in ninth position and they had won only two of the six matches they had contested. When Uni bounced back from last week’s disappointment with a scoreless draw they fell back to third position while Fraser Park have climbed to eighth place.

St George kicked off this match in fourth place and they had taken points from five of their seven games, including four wins while Parramatta FC were seventh and looking to break a three match losing streak. The Saints claimed the points with a solid 5-0 scoreline thanks to goals from J. Halikidis (2), P. Mitry, A. Nedelkovski and. T. Coolentianos and that has pushed them up to second spot while Parramatta have remained at seventh.

Placed fifth at kick-off time, Macarthur Rams and they had not been beaten in their last four outings as they had posted two wins and two draws. Northern Tigers were in tenth position and they had lost their last three matches. The Rams have hung onto fifth position following their 2-1 win and the Tigers have dropped back to eleventh. Both goals for the Rams came from D. Da Rocha and L. Zanko netted for the Tigers.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers were in sixth spot when this week’s game began and they were coming off a last match loss while Spirit FC were eighth and last week’s win had broken a four match losing streak. When the Rangers claimed the points with a 1-0 thanks to a goal from J. Roberts, they held onto sixth position but they have forced Spirit back to tenth place.

On this occasion the Brumbies were able to produce a 2-0 result and that has allowed them to move up to ninth while the Lions have slipped back to twelfth.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers had established a lead of seven points before this week’s match and they were unbeaten with six wins and a draw. Spirit FC were in second position and after winning their first four games they had lost both their two most recent matches. The Rangers extended their lead to eight points when they produced a 3-0 victory this week with their goals coming from F. Kamara, E. Greengrass and C. Ribeiro. That result has pushed Spirit back one place to third.

Mounties Wanderers began the day in third place and they were coming off a last match loss. Bankstown Berries were sixth with three wins and a draw coming from their seven games. When this match ended in a scoreless draw the Wanderers slipped back to fourth but the Berries were able to retain sixth spot.

Placed fourth at kick-off time, Sydney University had won three and drawn two of their seven matches while Fraser Park were eleventh with a win and three draws to show for their seven outings. In a result that would have raised more than a few eyebrows, Fraser Park came up with a 4-0 win thanks to goals from A. Small (3) and T. Van Rhoon and they have climbed to eighth position while Uni have fallen back to seventh.

Hills Brumbies were in fifth position coming into this game and they had taken points from their last three matches with a draw being followed by two wins. Bankstown City Lions were eighth and they had posted two draws and a loss since their last win. The Brumbies posted a 3-0 victory this week and that was enough to elevate them to second spot on the ladder while the Lions have slipped back to ninth.

This week the Saints registered a 4-1 win and they have moved up to fifth as a result while Parramatta have dropped to tenth. Scoring the goals for the Saints were C. Bartier, M. Anderson and R. Sekulovski while D. Melesevic netted for Parramatta.

Placed ninth before a ball was kicked, Northern Tigers had registered a draw and two losses since their last win while Macarthur Rams were twelfth and still searching for their first three-pointer as they had recorded just one draw from six games. The Rams recorded their first win with a 3-1 scoreline thanks to strikes from N. Shipley (2) and H. Sparkes while N. Lozada scored for the Tigers. This result has left the Rams in twelfth place and caused the Tigers to drop back to eleventh.

 

Supa IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 2 – Grade 15

Mt Druitt Town Rangers began the day as the competition leaders by a margin of six points and they were certainly the form team with seven wins from as many matches. Spirit FC were in second spot and after losing their match on the opening day of the season they had won all five of their subsequent matches. It is interesting that while the Rangers had scored in each of their matches up to this point, they had kept a clean sheet in only tow of those games. On the other hand, Spirit had scored in all but one of their games and conceded goals in only two matches. Whilst everyone was expecting a close game in this top of the table clash, few would have anticipated the goal-fest that happened on the day. When the dust settled on this thriller, the Rangers had secured the points with a 5-4 victory with their goals coming from L. Devaney (2), F. Kamara, D. Araujo and S. Roberts while Spirit’s goals were scored by L. Wilson (2), J. Robertson and M. Duguid. That leaves the Rangers six points clear at the top of the ladder but it has forced Spirit to drop back to third. Spirit had led 4-2 at the interval but the Rangers fought back with three unanswered goals in the second half.

Sydney University came into this match in third place and while they had won their first five games Uni had lost their last two. Fourth placed Fraser Park were two points behind Uni and they had collected points from five of their six games, losing only once along the way. Uni moved into second place when they produced a 2-1 win this week with all the goals coming in the second half of the match. Fraser Park were able to hang onto fourth place.

Bankstown Berries were in fifth position when this week’s match kicked off and they had taken points from five of their seven games while Mounties Wanderers were ninth with two wins to show for their seven games. When the Wanderers claimed the points with a 2-1 success, they moved up to seventh position and forced the Berries back to sixth.

Placed eighth at kick-off time, St George had broken a three match losing streak with a draw in last week’s game while Parramatta FC were tenth and last weekend’s draw had ended a run of two draws. Parramatta had the upper hand this week as they claimed the points with a 4-1 scoreline thanks to goals from N. White (2), S. Ismaeel Hasan and B. Wiafe while A. Pavey-Schanberg found the net for the Saints. As a result, Parramatta are now in eighth place and the Saints have slipped back to ninth.

Northern Tigers started this week’s match in ninth place and they had stopped a run of two losses with a draw in their last match while Macarthur Rams were twelfth with just two draws to show for their six games. When the Rams posted their first win for the season with a 1-0 scoreline, they moved up to eleventh position and the Tigers dropped to tenth. The only goal of the game was scored by T. Cheung.

 

Supa IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 2 – Grade 16

Starting the weekend as the competition frontrunners by a margin of three points, Parramatta FC were unbeaten with five wins and two draws and they were up against eighth placed St George who had lost their first two matches, won the next three and then lost the last two. Parramatta have retained the top spot but their lead has been reduced to goal difference after the suffered a 2-1 loss to the Saints who been elevated to fifth place.

Mounties Wanderers started this match in second spot and they had taken points from their last five games while Bankstown Berries were fifth who had collected points from their first four matches and then lost their last three outings. The Wanderers claimed the points this week with a 2-1 result and they are still placed second while the Berries have tumbled back to eighth.

Sydney University came into this game in third position after they had broken a two match run of losses with a win last week while Fraser Park were eleventh and they had won their last two matches after losing the previous four. Uni held onto third position when they were 1-0 winners and that has left Fraser Park at eleventh.

Placed fourth at kick-off time, Northern Tigers had lost only two of their seven matches while Macarthur Rams were in tenth position and they had earned points from four of their six games. The Tigers retained fourth place with a 1-0 result thanks to a goal from O. Perricone and that has left the Rams where they were on the ladder.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers arrived at this match in sixth spot with three wins and a draw to their credit while Spirit FC were in ninth position had two wins and two draws to show for their efforts. Both teams had lost their last match. The Rangers slipped back to seventh when they were beaten 3-2 by Spirit who are now in sixth spot.

Sydney University were in second spot at kick-off time and they had taken maximum points from five of their seven games while Fraser Park were sixth and they had grabbed points from their last three matches. Uni have retained second spot following their 2-1 success this week while Fraser park have dropped back to eighth.

Mounties Wanderers arrived at this match in third position and they had lost only one of their seven matches while Bankstown Berries were fifth and they were coming off a last match loss, only their second for the season. When they posted a 2-0 victory, the Wanders held onto third position and that has pushed the Berries back to sixth.

Parramatta FC started this match in fourth position with four wins and two draws coming from their last five outings while St George were ninth and they had endured three losses and a draw from their last four matches. Parramatta are still fourth despite suffering a 6-3 loss to the Saints who have climbed to seventh spot. Interestingly, all the goals came in the second half.

The Lions came to the fore with their first points and their first win this week, a 3-1 result brought about by goals from G. Bonanni, S. Allen and N. Morabito. This result has forced the Brumbies back to ninth.
