It might have been a bit chilly over the weekend but the sun shone brightly and the football on display was fantastic as we realise that the midpoint of the competition is only next week and that is when the real jockeying for position will begin with each and every result coming under intense scrutiny.

IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 1 – Overview

Manly United must have been absolutely delighted with the thirteen points they secured from their matches against Sutherland Sharks while APIA Leichhardt Tigers bagged a dozen points when they visited South Coast Wolves and Sydney Olympic earned twelve points when they hosted Bonnyrigg White Eagles.

Sydney United 58 snatched eleven points from the neighbouring Marconi Stallions while Blacktown Spartans pocketed nine points at home to Blacktown City. Rockdale City Suns and Central Coast Mariners shared the spoils at eight points apiece.

 

IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 1 – Club Championship

Sutherland Sharks arrived at this round as the competition leaders by a margin of a single point and they were paying a visit to Manly United who were in fifth position, seventeen points behind the Sharks. However, the Sharks slipped back to second place when they could take only four points from the fixture this week while Manly remained in fifth position.

Blacktown City started the day in second spot and they were being hosted by neighbouring Blacktown Spartans who were placed third and only a point behind City. The Spartans jumped to the top of the ladder when they earned eight points from this local derby while City have been pushed back to third place.

Placed fourth before a ball was kicked, APIA Leichhardt Tigers took the journey to South Coast Wolves who were in tenth position and twenty points behind the Tigers. The Tigers retained fourth position after they claimed eight points from this encounter and the Wolves have stayed at tenth.

Sydney Olympic came into this round in sixth spot and they faced seventh placed Bonnyrigg White Eagles who were only one point behind Olympic. This week Olympic were able to hold onto sixth place when they shared the points equally at six apiece with Bonnyrigg who have remained at seventh.

When the sun rose on Saturday morning Sydney United 58 were positioned eighth on the table and they were meeting neighbouring Marconi Stallions were in ninth place and there was a gap of a mere two points between the clubs. Although United took seven points from this derby, both clubs have remained exactly where they were on the ladder.

In Round 6 catch-up action Sydney United grabbed seven points from the four matches played against Central Coast Mariners. United have remained at eighth and the Mariners have moved up to eleventh.

When the first whistle sounded for the day Rockdale City Suns were eleventh and Central Coast Mariners were twelfth with a single point separating the clubs on the table. When the Suns and the Wolves took five points each from their meeting the clubs swapped places on the table on the table.

 

IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 1 – Grade 12

Blacktown City came into this match as the competition leaders with an impeccable record of eight wins from as many matches while Blacktown Spartans were four points further back in third place and they had not been beaten in their last six matches. On this occasion the clubs shared the spoils when the match ended in a 1-1 draw and while that has forced City back to second place, the Spartans have held onto third position. The Spartans’ goal was scored by T. Medimurac.

Placed second on goal difference at kick-off time, Manly United had posted eight wins from their eight games and they were ten points ahead of ahead of Sutherland Sharks who had broken a run of two losses with last week’s draw. When Manly claimed the points with a 2-0 victory they were able to move to the top of the table and that has pushed the Sharks back to sixth place. The goals in this match came from J. Hollman and H. McCarthy.

South Coast Wolves started the day in fourth position who had lost their two matches but they had subsequently remained unbeaten in their six games since then. APIA Leichhardt Tigers were four points away in sixth spot after suffering losses in their last three outings. The Wolves have dropped back to fifth position after they suffered a 1-0 loss to the Tigers who are now in seventh position.

Sydney United 58 arrived at this game in seventh position after they had suffered losses in their last two matches while Marconi Stallions were just one point further back at ninth following last week’s loss which ended a run of wins in their previous two matches. United earned the points when they were 2-1 winners and that allowed them to stay at seventh while the Stallions are still ninth. Scoring the goals for United were J. Ostojic and M. Maric while P. Yazbek found the net for the Stallions.

In Round 6 catch-up action Sydney United were 3-0 winners over Central Coast Mariners and that elevated United to fourth place.

Bonnyrigg White Eagles were in eighth place at the start of play after last week’s win had broken a run of losses in their previous two games and Sydney Olympic were five points away in eleventh position following losses in their last four outings. Olympic broke their losing streak this week with a 3-2 result but they are still in eleventh place while Bonnyrigg have not moved from eighth.

Placed tenth when this match kicked off, Rockdale City Suns had earned all their points from their last three games after losing their first six while Central Coast Mariners were in twelfth position after they had posted a draw on the opening day of the season and then lost the seven subsequent matches. This weekend the Mariners registered their second draw and the Suns took their unbeaten run to four matches when this game was locked up at 1-1 at fulltime. The Mariners had established a 1-0 lead before the break thanks to a goal from D. Coleman and then the Suns came back in the second half with the equaliser being scored by J. Trajkovski. Neither team has moved position on the table.

 

IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 1 – Grade 13

Blacktown City were the competition frontrunners on goal difference at kick-off time with six wins and three draws to show for their nine matches and Blacktown Spartans were only two points further back in fourth place with six wins and a draw coming from ten games. When this match ended at 1-1 City were forced back to second place while the Spartans were able to hang onto fourth position. The Spartans had taken a first half lead thanks to a goal from M. Wu and then City equalised in the second half with the goal coming from T. Stewart.

Sutherland Sharks started the day in second place after last week’s loss ended their run of seven successive wins. They faced sixth placed Manly United who had posted four wins and a draw from their last five matches after recording a win and a draw from their first four outings.  The Sharks slipped back to third when they suffered a 2-0 loss to Manly who moved up to fifth.

Placed third when this match kicked off, Sydney Olympic had put together an unbeaten run of seven games following a win and two losses from their first three contests while Bonnyrigg White Eagles were eleventh following losses from their last three games. Olympic stretched their run of success to eight matches when they were 2-0 winners in this game. Bonnyrigg are still in eleventh place.

Sydney United 58 arrived at this match in fifth position after they had produced a draw and two wins from their last three games and Marconi Stallions were two points further back at seventh following losses from their last two matches. United slipped back one place to sixth after they battled out a scoreless draw with the Stallions who are still seventh.

In Round 6 catch-up action Sydney United and Central Coast Mariners fought out a 1-1 draw. United and the Mariners stayed where they were on the table.

When the first whistle sounded APIA Leichhardt Tigers were in eighth position and they were coming off a last match win while South Coast Wolves were one point further back at ninth after their unbeaten run of six matches was halted with last week’s loss. The teams stayed where they were on the ladder this week when their match was locked up a 3-3 at fulltime. Scoring the goals for the Tigers were M. Bimbilovski (2) and J. Levy while the scorers for the Wolves were J. Lees, A. Taouil and J. Cakovski.

The Wolves were also due to face the thirteenth placed FNSW Institute who had only one draw to show for their efforts so far.

Central Coast Mariners came into this match in tenth place with two wins and a draw coming from their ten matches while Rockdale City Suns were twelfth after they had produced just one win from ten games. The Mariners claimed the points with a 1-0 victory thanks to a strike from M. Hatch but the teams have remained where they were on the table.

 

IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 1 – Grade 14

In Round 7 catch-up action Bonnyrigg White Eagles were 2-0 winners over Blacktown City.

Sydney Olympic arrived at this match with an impressive lead of six points at the top of the table after they had collected eight wins and a draw from their ten matches. They faced fourth placed Bonnyrigg White Eagles who recovered from a rocky start to the season to post four wins and two draws from their last six games. Olympic’s run of success came to an end this week when they suffered a 1-0 loss to Bonnyrigg. That has left Olympic at the top of the table but their margin has been reduced to three points and Bonnyrigg are still placed fourth.

Before the first whistle sounded Sutherland Sharks were in second spot after they had taken six wins and a draw from their eight matches and they were also the top goal scorers in this age group. They were up against tenth placed Manly United who had registered a win followed by four consecutive draws from their last five outings. The Sharks took the points this week with a 1-0 win and they are still in second place while Manly have slipped back to eleventh.

Blacktown Spartans were in third place at kick-off time and they had experienced a roller-coaster ride of results and their opponents this week were Blacktown City who were four points away at seventh and they also had a mixed bag of results to show for their nine matches. The Spartans held onto third place thanks to a 1-0 win and that has left City at seventh. The winning goal came from J. Zerefos in the second half.

Central Coast Mariners were in sixth spot when this match started and they had posted two wins and three draws from their last five matches while Rockdale City Suns were four points further back at ninth with three wins and two draws coming from their last seven games. When the Suns won this match 1-0 they climbed to eighth position and the Mariners have remained at sixth.

In Round 6 catch-up action Central Coast Mariners defeated Sydney United with a 2-0 scoreline. That result has moved the Mariners up to fifth place and United moved up to tenth.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers started the day in eighth position and they had two wins and two draws to show for their last five games while thirteenth placed South Coast Wolves had produced just one draw from their eight matches. This week the teams battled out a 1-1 draw and that has forced the Tigers back to ninth while the Wolves are still at the foot of the table.

The Wolves were also due to face the sixth placed FNSW Institute who had recorded four draws from their last five games.

Sydney United 58 kicked off this match in eleventh position after they had collected just one draw from their last six outings while Marconi Stallions were two points further back at twelfth and they were coming off a last match win. United posted a 2-0 win thanks to goals from A. Vastag and M. Conlon to be placed tenth while the Stallions are still twelfth.

 

IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 1 – Grade 15

Bonnyrigg White Eagles had a top-of-the-table lead of two points at kick-off time after they had secured eight victories from their ten matches while eighth placed Sydney Olympic registered four wins from nine matches. Bonnyrigg maintained the position when they were 5-1 winners and Olympic held onto eighth place.

In Round 7 catch-up action Bonnyrigg White Eagles were 2-1 winners over Blacktown City.

In second place when this match started, APIA Leichhardt Tigers had posted a draw and two wins from their last three outings and South Coast Wolves were in thirteenth position and they had recorded their first win for the season last week. The Tigers are still in second place after they claimed the points with a 2-0 scoreline and the Wolves have remained at the foot of the table.

The Wolves were also due to face the ninth placed FNSW Institute who had lost their last four matches.

Blacktown City came into this match in third place and they had lost only two of their nine matches while Blacktown Spartans were right behind City on goal difference at fifth position and they had lost three of their ten games. Both teams had a draw last week. When the Spartans won 2-0 they promptly moved up to fourth place while City have fallen back to seventh spot. The scorers were J. Kuipers and L. De Leo.

Marconi Stallions kicked off this match in fourth position after a win and a draw in their last two games and Sydney United 58 were two points further back at seventh and they had broken a run of two losses with a victory last Sunday. The Stallions jumped into third place when they came up with a 2-1 result.

In Round 6 catch-up action Sydney United posted a 5-0 victory over Central Coast Mariners, an outcome that has held United to climb to fifth. 

Sutherland Sharks arrived at this match in sixth spot and they had ended a run of two losses with a draw last week while Manly United were in twelfth position with a win and three draws to show for their efforts. When the teams fought out a 1-1 draw they remained where they were on the ladder. The first half goal for the Sharks was scored by C. Katsaros and Manly’s second half equaliser was scored by D. Bouman.

In tenth place when the first whistle sounded, Central Coast Mariners had won their last three matches and they faced eleventh placed Rockdale City Suns who had lost their last two games. This match ended in a 1-1 draw and that left the Mariners at ninth while the Suns are still in eleventh position. The Mariners took a first half lead through L. Macey and then the Suns equalised in the second half through M. Lecce.

When this game kicked off Sydney Olympic were the competition frontrunners by a margin of just one point after they had posted three wins and a draw from their last four matches while Bonnyrigg White Eagles were twelfth with a win and two draws coming from their ten matches. Olympic maintained their number one position with a sensational 8-0 result after leading 5-0 at the break. Bonnyrigg are still in twelfth place.

Central Coast Mariners were sitting in second spot when the first whistle sounded and they had bounced back from a loss to register a draw last week while Rockdale City Suns were in tenth position following their recovery from two losses with last week’s draw. When the Mariners suffered a 3-1 loss they tumbled back to fourth place and the Suns climbed to ninth.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers arrived at this game in third place following an unbeaten run of five matches which included three wins and two draws. They came up against seventh placed South Coast Wolves who were coming off a last game loss. The Tigers claimed second place when they were 5-0 winners this week, an outcome that has pushed the Wolves back to eighth place. The goals for the Tigers came from G. Blackwood (2), N. Sullivan, J. Van Den Berg and L. Scott.

The Wolves were also due to face the fifth placed FNSW Institute who were coming off a last match loss.

City produced a 3-0 win and that helped them to move up to third place while the Spartans have dropped back to seventh. The goals were scored by M. Popovic (2) and A. Awaz.

Sydney United 58 began the day in eighth position and they had recovered from a loss to post a win in their last game while Marconi Stallions were twelfth with just one draw to show for their ten matches. United jumped into fifth place when they registered a 4-1 victory over the Stallions who have fallen back to thirteenth. Scoring for United were A. Abdullah (2), A. Callisto and T. Scafael while J. Bolzan netted for the Stallions.

Sutherland Sharks came into this match in ninth place and they had not been beaten in their last five games with wins sandwiching three consecutive draws. They were up against eleventh placed Manly United who had broken a run of two losses with a draw last week. Manly went one better this week when they produced a 2-1 win and they are now in tenth position and the Sharks have slipped back to eleventh. Manly’s goals were scored by S. Tweedie and C. Baker.

 

IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 1 – Grade 18

Blacktown Spartans arrived at this match at the top of the table by a margin of a single point and they had bounced back from their only loss with wins in the last two games while Blacktown City were in third position and they were coming off a last game loss. The Spartans maintained their position when they battled out a 1-1 draw with City who have dropped back to fourth. The goal for the Spartans was scored by C. Adinknuye and City’s goal came from A. Berry.

Sydney United 58 were sitting in second spot at kick-off time after they had taken their unbeaten run to six matches and they faced sixth placed Marconi Stallions who had not lost in their last four outings. United retained second place after they fought it out with the Stallions for a 3-3 draw, a result that has forced Marconi back to seventh place. The scorers for United were P. Gacic and L. Hannah while Marconi’s goals were provided by S. Morris, M. Duarte and N. Kuleski.

Central Coast Mariners were in tenth place when this match commenced after a run of six losses on the trot and they met eleventh placed Rockdale City Suns who had posted draws in their last two games. In an absolute thriller the Mariners claimed the points with a 4-3 result but both teams remained where they were on the ladder.
