The wind might have had a bite to it but the sun was shining and the standard of football was once again fabulous as we race toward the season’s midpoint when the serious jockeying for position will begin in earnest so we can continue to expect the unexpected.

 

SUPA IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 2 – Overview

Mt Druitt Town Rangers would have been thrilled with the eighteen points they pocketed from their home encounter with Bankstown Berries while Mounties Wanderers would have been happy after they secured twelve points when they hosted Macarthur Rams.

Sydney University bagged ten points from their visit to Parramatta FC while Hills Brumbies also earned ten points from their home matches against St George.

Spirit FC took nine points from the five matches they played at Fraser Park while Northern Tigers and in Round 5 catch-up action Spirit FC took nine points from their four match clash with Bankstown City Lions.

Bankstown City Lions shared the spoils with each club taking nine points from the weekend.

 

SUPA IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 2 – Club Championship

Mt Druitt Town Rangers arrived at this round as the frontrunners on this table by a margin of seven points and they faced fourth placed Bankstown Berries. When the Rangers collected all twelve points this week they extended their lead to ten points and forced the berries back to fifth position.

Before a ball was kicked Sydney University were in second spot and they were paying a visit to eleventh placed Parramatta FC. Uni took nine points from the day and that has kept them in second place and left Parramatta at eleventh.

Hills Brumbies started the day in third position as they hosted sixth placed St George. The Brumbies retained third place when they bagged seven points from this encounter while the Saints have fallen back to seventh.

Spirit FC came into this round in fifth place and they took the trip across town to Fraser Park who were in eighth position. Spirit climbed into fourth position when they pocketed six points from the three matches played and Fraser Park remained at eighth.

In Round 5 catch-up action Spirit FC earned nine points from their clash with Bankstown City Lions.

Located in seventh place at daybreak, Mounties Wanderers welcomed tenth placed Macarthur Rams. The Wanderers moved up to sixth when they earned six points from the event and the Rams are still tenth. 

Northern Tigers were in ninth position when the first whistle sounded for the day and they were up against twelfth placed Bankstown City Lions. The Tigers and the Lions split the point at six apiece and so they remained where they were on the table.

 
SUPA IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 2 – Grade 12

Hills Brumbies came into this game as the competition leaders by a margin of six points and they had an unblemished record of eight wins from as many matches. Their opponents were sixth placed St George who had broken a two match losing streak with a win last week. The Brumbies had their lead cut to three points when they suffered their first loss of the season, a 1-0 result which has moved the Saints up to fourth place. The winning goal came from B. Salachoris.

Sydney University started the day in second place and they had won two and lost two of their last four games after posting wins in their first four matches. They were playing against twelfth placed Parramatta FC who were yet to register their first point for the season. Retained second place when they recorded a solid 4-0 success, doubling their half-time scoreline, and that has left Parramatta at the foot of the table.

Spirit FC arrived at this match in third place and they had not lost a game since the opening day of the season while Fraser Park were three points further back in fifth place after their unbeaten run of five matches had been broken by last week’s loss. Spirit are still in third place despite the fact that this match was not played but Fraser Park have slipped back to seventh.

In Round 5 catch-up action Spirit FC were 5-1 winners over Bankstown City Lions.

Before the first whistle sounded Northern Tigers were in fourth position following their return to the winners’ circle last week and Bankstown City Lions were eleventh with only one win to show for their seven outings. The Lions posted their second victory when they downed the Tigers 2-0, a result that has pushed the Tigers back to fifth and left the Lions at eleventh.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers kicked off this match in seventh spot following losses in their last three games while Bankstown Berries were two points further back in eighth place and they had taken points from three of their last four matches. The Rangers climbed to sixth thanks to their 3-0 win and the Berries have dropped back to tenth as a result.

Mounties Wanderers began the day in ninth place and they had posted a win and a draw from their last two matches while Macarthur Rams were just one point away in tenth place after suffering losses in their last two games. The Wanderers rose to eighth position and the Rams moved up to ninth when the teams battled out a 1-1 draw with the goals coming from Andre Thomas for Mounties in the second half to cancel out the first half goal from Blake Richards for Macarthur.

 

SUPA IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 2 – Grade 13

Bankstown Berries maintained their lead of five points on the table even though they were beaten 2-0 by Mt Druitt Town Rangers who have climbed from sixth to seventh. This loss ended the Berries’ run of six wins on the trot. 

St George had won their previous three matches but that run came to a screaming halt this week when they suffered a 2-0 loss to Hills Brumbies who showed that the win and draw they had posted over the previous two weeks was not a fluke and they have been rewarded with ninth position on the ladder.

Mounties Wanderers retained fourth place and Macarthur Rams are still fifth after the teams fought out a scoreless draw this week. The Wanderers were bouncing back from last week’s loss while the Rams were continuing their unbeaten sequence to six matches, a run that now includes three draws.

Sydney University dropped from third to sixth when they went down by the odd goal in five to Parramatta FC who have dropping to eighth after breaking their losing streak of four matches. Parramatta were trailing 2-1 at the interval and then they rolled their sleeves up to score two unanswered goals in the second stanza.

Spirit FC moved up one place to ninth when they recovered from last week’s loss to register a 3-0 victory over Fraser Park who have tumbled back three places to eleventh.

In Round 5 catch-up action Spirit FC were 3-0 winners over Bankstown City Lions and that helped Spirit to move up to seventh place. .

Northern Tigers broke their four match losing streak and climbed one place to tenth when they posted a 1-0 result over Bankstown City Lions who have remained at the foot of the table. The winning goal was scored in the second half by A. Duffy.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers stretched their unbeaten sequence to nine matches and maintained their lead of eight points at the top of the table with a 4-2 victory over Bankstown Berries who have slipped back three places to ninth. The Rangers had led 2-1 at the break and then they went on with the job in the second half.

Hills Brumbies held onto second spot when they registered a 1-0 success over St George who have dropped back three places to eighth. Neither team had been able to find the net in the first half so it was left to the second period of play to find the winning goal.

Mounties Wanderers moved up one place to third when they were 1-0 winners over twelfth placed Macarthur Rams who were coming off a last match win. The winning goal was scored in the first half by Arlo Dimaculangan.

Sydney University jumped from seventh to fifth thanks to a 2-0 victory over Parramatta FC who have remained at tenth. Both goals were scored in an action-packed second half.

Fraser Park soared from eighth to sixth when they produced a 1-0 victory over Spirit FC who have fallen from third to seventh. The winning goal came from A. Small.

Bankstown City Lions remained at ninth despite recording a solid 4-1 win over eleventh placed Northern Tigers. The Lions had taken a 1-0 lead into the break and then they completed to job in the second half.

In Round 5 catch-up action Bankstown City Lions were 3-1 winners over Spirit FC and that allowed the Lions to shoot up to fourth place..

Leading the competition table by six points, Mt Druitt Town Rangers took their winning streak to nine victories from nine matches when they came up with a 3-2 result over sixth placed Bankstown Berries

Due to catch-up action involving Spirit FC, Sydney University actually dropped to third place on the ladder with a 3-1 victory over Parramatta FC who have dropped back one place to ninth. Uni had returned to the winners’ circle last week after a two week run of outs and they clearly intended to keep that success going this week. They led 2-1 at the break and then went on with the job in the second half.

Spirit FC are still in third place following their 2-0 win over Fraser Park who have managed to hold onto fourth position. Spirit had established their 2-0 lead before the interval. Spirit were bouncing back from last week’s loss which had ended a five match winning streak while Fraser Park have now posted a draw and two losses from their last three matches.

In Round 5 catch-up action Spirit FC were 2-1 winners over Bankstown City Lions and that has pushed Spirit up to second place.on goal difference.

Hills Brumbies maintained their position at fourth when they battled out a 1-1 draw with tenth placed St George. The goal for the Brumbies was scored by J. O’Brien while D. Pavey-Schanberg found the net for the Saints.

Mounties Wanderers slipped back one place to eighth when they were held to a 1-1 draw by eleventh placed Macarthur Rams. Both goals were scored before the interval with Martin Zafirov netting for the Wanderers and Harrison Bagot scoring for the Rams.

Northern Tigers jumped two places up the ladder to seventh after they produced a 2-0 win over twelfth placed Bankstown City Lions after the scores were locked at 0-0 at half-time. Scoring for the Tigers were S. Malone and C. Wolff.

 

SUPA IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 2 – Grade 16

Mounties Wanderers took the lead on the competition table this week when they produced a 4-0 victory over Macarthur Rams who have remained in tenth position. The goals came from Hamish Callahan (2), Liam Easson and Brandon Cook. This extends the Wanderers’ unbeaten sequence to seven matches but it is bad news for the Rams as they have now lost three in a row and gone six matches without a win.

Parramatta FC slipped back to second after they battled out a scoreless draw with Sydney University who have fallen back one place to fourth. Parramatta had suffered their only loss of the season last week so this will be seen as a bounce back from that while Uni had won their last two matches.

Northern Tigers climbed one place to third with a 2-0 success over twelfth placed Bankstown City Lions. That was the third win on the trot for the Tigers and a disappointment for the Lions as they had posted their first win for the season last week and they would have been hoping to go on with the job.

Spirit FC moved up one place to fifth thanks to a 1-0 win over Fraser Park and that is the first time this season that Spirit have strung together two wins in a row. Fraser Park have remained in eleventh position.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers jumped one place up the ladder to sixth when they came up with a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Bankstown Berries who have dropped back one place to ninth. The Rangers were making a recovery from the losses they had suffered in their last two outings while the Berries have now lost five on the trot.

St George tumbled from fifth to eighth when they were beaten 2-1 by Hills Brumbies who have jumped two places up the ladder to seventh. This result reverses the form of last week when the Saints won and the Brumbies lost.

 

SUPA IGA NSW National Premier League Men’s 2 – Grade 18

Mt Druitt Town Rangers have stretched their competition lead to three points following their 2-0 success over Bankstown Berries who have slipped back two places to eighth. The Rangers have now completed all nine scheduled matches with out tasting defeat while the Berries have lost three in a row.

Mounties Wanderers moved up one place to second when they were 1-0 winners over twelfth placed Macarthur Rams thanks to a second half goal from Benjamin Gray. That takes the Wanderers’ unbeaten run to five matches while the Rams have now lost their last seven games.

Sydney University fell back to third position when they suffered a 4-0 loss to Parramatta FC who have jumped one place up the ladder to fourth. Parramatta were coming off a last match loss while Uni had won their previous two games.

Fraser Park recovered from last week’s loss to post a sensational 7-0 result when they faced Spirit FC who have dropped back one place to eleventh. That was the third consecutive loss for Spirit.

St George were elevated two places to sixth thanks to their 3-1 success over ninth placed Hills Brumbies. The Saints had gone four matches without a win before last week’s victory and they clearly went on with the job this week.

Northern Tigers tumbled from fourth to ninth when they suffered a 2-1 loss to eleventh placed Bankstown City Lions who have now won two on the trot after losing their first six games. It ends a three match unbeaten run for the Tigers.
