Shoalhaven City to host Girls State Football Titles

Shoalhaven City Council will join Football NSW and Shoalhaven Heads Berry Football Club in hosting the Under 12, 14 and 16 Girls State Titles at Vic Zealand Reserve, Shoalhaven Heads.

Taking place between Monday 23 and Friday 27 September the event is expected to bring a combined 690 aspiring footballers, officials and supporters to Shoalhaven City, generating an expected $430,000 for the local economy.
Mayor, Joanna Gash said the football titles would present a huge economic boost to the Shoalhaven saying she was pleased to see another major sporting event coming to the area.
“The  Under 12, 14 and 16 Girls State Titles will provide the perfect vehicle to showcase the many tourism destinations and high class facilities the Shoalhaven has to football enthusiasts from right across NSW,” said Clr Gash.
“With the Titles taking place either side of the weekend, I’m sure many of the competitors and their families will take the opportunity to visit several of the amazing attractions located right throughout the area.
“The State Titles will have the added benefit of providing a steady stream of visitors during what is traditionally the off peak tourist season.”
“I would like to wish all of the competitors the best of luck during the upcoming titles and would also encourage all player, spectators and officials to get out about and enjoy the area during their stay.”
Football NSW CEO, Eddie Moore has expressed his excitement at being able to bring the titles to the Shoalhaven saying the area has a history of providing talented youth players.
“Bringing quality football to Shoalhaven will certainly be spectacles within itself as a number of these teams will be able to showcase their new talents who could potentially turn out to be future stars,” said Mr Moore.
“Promoting ‘the world game’ to all regions in NSW is key to the success and development of the sport.
“Football NSW welcomed the decision to play the Under 12, 14 and 16 Girls State Titles in Shoalhaven and have encouraged local residents to head down and take in some of the exciting football action.”
The Football NSW State Titles are conducted annually by Community Football and are an essential part of the recognised pathway for NSW State Metro and Country selection.
The Football NSW Girls State Titles is part of the Sports Tourism Program which is brought to the Shoalhaven by Shoalhaven City Council and  supporting Sports Tourism Partners –  Platinum Partner- Bomaderry RSL , GOLD  Partners- Telstra, Shoalhaven Water, South Coast Register, 2ST and Power Fm.
The sports tourism initiative has brought to the Shoalhaven economy over $9.5 million of tourism revenue to date.
