Blacktown Spartans ready for 2014 challenge

IGA NPL NSW Mens 1 outfit Blacktown Spartans have pushed its cause in wanting to play finals football in NSW’s top tier competition for the first time in the club’s history with a host of impressive signings for 2014.
One in particular is former Hyundai A-League player and ex-Newcastle Jets and North Queensland Fury defender Brett Studman.
The tough tackling stopper is eagerly anticipating the start of the IGA NPL NSW Mens 1 season with the club’s first match penned in against the Sutherland Sharks.
Along with Studman, fellow teammate from Sydney Olympic and elusive striker Elsid Barkhousir has signed on with the club as has David Gullo from the Bonnyrigg White Eagles.
Another player that will surely make a huge difference in the Spartans starting lineup is Ray Miller.
Miller played a pivotal with Spartans’ arch rivals Blacktown City FC’s success throughout the last few seasons and will no doubt add that x-factor when the competition begins.
Bryan Soane has also penned a deal with the club.
Spartans coach Ben DeHaan will be hoping his new chargers settle in their new environment as the club looks towards making the fantastic facility that is Blacktown Football Park a fortress for any opposing IGA National Premier Leagues NSW Mens 1 side.
Along with the club’s new recruits, the club will look towards skipper and goalkeeper Carlos Saliadarre as well as the likes of Luke Austin, Greg Kondek, Nathan Millgate and late 2013 signings Phil Makrys and Emmanuel Giannaros who are all looking forward to the big season ahead.
