This week sees the NSR Futsal Schools Championship kick off in Bathurst. The tournament will see over 260 schools and approximately 8,000 students take part in the competition.

From Bathurst to Manly, 15 regional tournaments will take place between now and July. Futsal will be the talk of schools across the state as they compete to become the best school team in NSW. There will be 8 age groups U12s, 14s, 16s and Open Boys, U12s,14s 16s and Opens  girls as well as Primary and Secondary divisions for Athletes with a Disability (AWD).

There is an opportunity for all age groups to become a part of the tournament.

NSR Australia will again be the naming rights sponsor for the tournament, providing footballers who may only play in school competitions with an opportunity to impress qualified coaches with a view to potentially gaining an opportunity to play football in the competitive American College Leagues while studying for a degree of their choice.

7News will continue its support of community football by lending itself to this initiative.

In addition to partnering with SAP Gala Days and the 7News Schools Program, 7News’ support of this tournament will ensure that students have the best possible experience at the event and may even find themselves featured in news articles.

Football NSW CEO Eddie Moore couldn’t be happier with the Championship.

"The NSR Futsal Schools Championship is a fantastic opportunity for both primary and secondary students to experience futsal in a fun yet competitive environment.

"Football NSW is committed to the growth of both the outdoor and indoor versions of the game and I’m looking forward to seeing how the tournament progresses."
