IGA NPL NSW Mens 1 side Marconi Stallions have snapped up former Socceroo and Sydney FC player Matthew Thompson for the remainder of the season.

This is the second time Matthew will be wearing the Stallions shirt as he wore it back in the 2004-2005 season.

The 31-year-old will link up with his younger brother Mitchell in boosting the Stallions stocks as the former NSL giants look towards breaking a losing streak that has seen the club record two wins from seven matches.

It is understood that Thompson could make his debut in tonight’s highly anticipated Round 4 Waratah Cup clash against Illawarra Premier League giants Dapto Dandaloo Fury.

Thompson started his football with the Macarthur Rams before moving off to the Parramatta Power.

His spent most of his playing career at the Newcastle Jets before moving off to the Melbourne Heart in 2010.

Sydney FC snapped him up in 2013 where he played 18 matches for the Sky Blues.
