Blacktown Association ready for a bumper 2015 football season

Blacktown’s young footballers will have the chance to be taught by the best coaches with Blacktown District Soccer Football Association improving their coaching structure in 2015.
The association contains 22 member clubs covering the Blacktown Council region with teams ranging from under-5s through to all age for men and women.
BDSFA chief executive officer Jack Taylor said their aim for the new season was to develop as many youngsters as possible through a specific coaching course.
“We are hoping to provide and deliver a coaching course to each and every club,” Taylor said.
“We follow the FFA national curriculum and have a very good coaching structure as an association and we are aiming to lift the bar.
“The aim is to concentrate on developing football players and provide value for money from a young age.
“That way when a kid finishes their season, parents can see they have learnt something.”
Currently with over 9300 registered players, the association will also take a close look at increasing women’s participation in the sport locally.
Taylor said joining the association could be the beginning of a long affiliation with football for anyone interested in the sport.
“This year we are also looking at football for women,”
“We’ve had above average state growth in terms of growing our base and want more women playing the sport at a local level as well.
“We have a fabulous pathway in our association with the Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) and Blacktown Spartans in the PS4 National Premier League NSW men’s 1 competition for boys and girls.
“So realistically joining a local club is the first step to make it through the ranks.”
Playing football in a safe, happy, enjoyable and affordable environment with an opportunity to learn from the best is something BDSFA can offer in 2015.
