Futsal Premier League Preliminary Final Preview
Premier League Premiers Dural Warriors await the victor of a glorious preliminary final match-up between Enfield Rovers and Inner West Magic at Dural Sport & Leisure Centre.
Enfield led the league midway through but they haven’t been able to string more than two wins together since round five, while Inner West have won nine in an 11-game unbeaten run that leaves them one result short of Dural’s dazzling dozen last summer.
Magic’s hocus-pocus includes a scenic eight-match road trip that has them undefeated away from home this summer (two off Dural’s 10-game unbeaten run over the last two seasons), but it gets far more interesting than that.
The two clubs have split two wins each and a draw from their past five meetings but the past four have been very tight, and if this is close again Enfield might be considered favourites having won 73% of their one-goal results over the past five summers (Inner West 56%).
Magic are always solid at the back and their 35 goals conceded this season is only bettered by Warriors (24); but Rovers are the goalscoring masters with 77 scored in 15 runs (28 by Shervin Adeli). In fact Enfield has three players in double-figures (veterans Clayton Musumeci and Lachlan Wright) while Inner West’s lead scorer is Daniel Fogarty with nine goals (seven scored in last three weeks).
Both clubs will be fighting for their second grand final appearance in the past five summers – both resulting in losses to Dural.
AWD Preliminary final
Premiers South Coast Taipans have it all to do in a fantastic AWD division one preliminary final against a rising Phoenix at Dural Sport & Leisure Centre. Phoenix knocked out third-placed Sutherland 3-1 on the weekend while previously unbeaten Taipans fell 2-3 to Mountain Majik.
The trophy match will be held at the Futsal Premier League championship day being held at Valentine Sports Park on February 21 (3pm kickoff).
