Australian Schoolboys complete overseas tour

Nine New South Wales players represented the Australian Schoolboys on their recent tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Shaun Catlin (Narrabeen High School), Zac Sfiligoi (Barker College), Marcus Duncan (Hunter Sports High), Bodan Allport (Smiths Hill High School), Felipe Z Castro (Rooty Hill High School), Jack Fulton (Westfield Sports High), Steve Whyte (Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College), Lachlan Roberts (Macarthur Anglican College) and player of the tournament Oliver Green (Epping Boys High School).
The Schoolboys team was selected following the National Schools Football Championships held in Sydney last August.
Ten games were played throughout the tour as well as the boys having the opportunity to experience the world’s most exciting football competition, the English Premier League.
Immediately upon on arrival, the Schoolboys made their way to the famous Upton Park in London to watch West Ham United take on Hull City.
With many tough games placed in a packed schedule, the Australian team only lost three games, picking up an impressive five wins and two draws. The side also travelled across the whole of the United Kingdom as well as playing in Dublin against the Republic of Ireland.
One of the teams the Schoolboys defeated was the Cardiff City Under 18’s who are coached by former English Premier League star Craig Bellamy. Bellamy complemented the Australian side on their good football and performance after the game.
The Aussie boys had to deal with some unusual playing conditions for most Australians as their match against Northern Ireland was cut short due to heavy snowfall.
