Referees and match officials will be the focus for a new campaign to be launched with the backing of Football Federation Australia and Member Federations across the country.
The new RESPECT campaign is aimed at educating players, coaches and spectators about the role of the men and women who control our games.
Combating anti-social behaviour and putting an end to the abuse of match officials is high on the agenda for the RESPECT campaign, an initiative that will be rolled out nationally.
With most competitions now off and running, players and spectators are encouraged to heed the campaign message.
Football NSW Referees Manager and current Hyundai A-League official Kris Griffiths-Jones is passionate about getting this message out to the football family.
“It’s our beautiful game but to keep it beautiful we must respect each other."
It’s a message that is relevant to all those who enjoy football. With such a diverse community of players, coaches, referees, volunteers and fans, it is important to remember that we must continue to treat one another with respect.
Griffiths-Jones also wished a safe and enjoyable start to the season for all.
“Best of luck for everyone beginning their football for the year. However you’re involved in the game I hope your season is filled with fun, excitement, and those special moments only football can bring.”
