After three rounds in the PS4 NPL NSW Women’s 1 competition, only the Football NSW Institute have won all three games, albeit the Rams still have a match in hand after their weekend wash out.

Match of the Round:

North West Sydney Koala’s v Macarthur Rams @ELS Hall Park – WASHED OUT

A massive match is in prospect at ELS Hall Park on Sunday afternoon as the North West Sydney Koala’s welcome the Macarthur Rams.

Norm Boardman’s Rams have had a solid start to the season, picking up two wins from two and scoring seven goals along the way. They won’t be to happy having missed last week’s match due to rain and will be raring to go this week.

The Koala’s have had a mixed start to the season, registering a win, draw and loss in their opening three games. They’ll look to get back on the winners list but it will be anything but an easy game against the Rams.

Victory for either side here will keep them right in touch with the leading teams of the competition.

Emerging Jets v Blacktown Spartans @Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility

On Sunday at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility, it will be the Emerging Jets and Blacktown Spartans in search of their first wins of the season.

The Jets have lost all three of their opening season games and currently have zero points. A positive the Jets can take from their early games is that they haven’t been outplayed and have in fact been quite unlucky.

The Jets will look to play a brand of football and won’t sacrifice the way they play for results that will slowly start to come.

The Spartans early preseason form is yet to shine on the team as they are yet to register a win this season. In saying that, the Spartans have only lost once in three, drawing their other two games. The girls will look to start recording three points as soon as possible as the gap at the top begins to expand.

Illawarra Stingrays v Manly United @JJ Kelly Park

The Illawarra Stingrays welcome Manly United down the coast at JJ Kelly Park on Sunday.

Grahame Shaw will still be scratching his head as to how his team didn’t take anything from last weeks match. Nevertheless, the teams first three points of the campaign shouldn’t be to far away if they can reciprocate that performance.

Manly have had a great start to the campaign and are one of four undefeated teams in the competition, only dropping points once in a draw last weekend against the Koala’s. A win here would show that they are real title contenders for this season.

Central Coast v Sydney University @Pluim Park

On Sunday afternoon, the Central Coast will take on Sydney University at Pluim Park.

The week off couldn’t have come at a better time for the Central Coast after it gave them a chance to regroup following two emphatic early season defeats. They’ve found the going tough in the state’s top tier since their promotion and they’ll need their fortunes to change soon if they’re to stay up.

After a loss and a draw in their first two matches, Heather Garriock’s girls finally sprung into action and took all three points in the last round. The title contenders need to get on a run and a win here would put them straight in the hunt with the leaders.

Football NSW Institute v North Shore Mariners

It’s 1 v 2 as the Football NSW Institute and the North Shore Mariners do battle at VSP on Sunday afternoon.

The Champions picked up where they left off last campaign and showed that the best teams win games even when they aren’t at their best like in the Institutes last game. A frightening attack made up of Princess Ibini-Isei, Demi Koulizakis and Panayiota Petratos will have most defences shaking in their boots.

The Mariners have been the surprise team of the competition so far and continue to impress, currently sitting in second place. Captain Hannah Bromley will need to put in a good shift as well as Ariela Cabezas in midfield and the on fire Tara Andrews.
