With six games left in the PS4 NPL NSW Women’s 1 competition, we are no closer to finding out who the finals participants are going to be.

Macarthur Rams and Manly United are on course for their places in the top four, sitting in positions one and two on the league table.

MATCH OF THE ROUND

Blacktown Spartans v Emerging Jets @ Blacktown Football Park

The early game on Sunday kicks off at 1:30pm at Blacktown Football Park as the Blacktown Spartans welcome the Emerging Jets.

The Spartans were devastated with dropping three points in the finals minutes of last weeks match and coach Paul Constantini will want to make sure his recover ahead of the weekends clash.

Trudy Camilleri was fantastic in her first match in orange and could be a major part of the Spartans plans for finals football.

The Jets have had a decent first season in the states top tier of women’s football. They’re still an outside chance of sneaking into the finals but can’t risk dropping many further points.

Manly United v Illawarra Stingrays @ Cromer Park

A mouth watering clash is in prospect at Cromer Park on Sunday afternoon as Manly United take on the high flying Illawarra Stingrays.

United have only won once in their last four matches, a slight form slump that has cost them the opportunity to move into first place on the ladder. United are four points away from first place and points are imperative in a bid for the Premiership.

What to say about the Stingrays but that they are the inform team of the competition. They’ve won five on the bounce and are leading the competition in scoring with 40 goals to their name. Attacking duet of Michelle Carney and Jordan Baker are finding form at the right time, a dangerous prospect for the United defence, the second best in the league.

Last week, in a mid-week catch up, these two sides did battle and the Stingrays came out on top 3-1.

Macarthur Rams v North West Sydney Koalas @ Lynwood Park

At Lynwood Park on Sunday afternoon, the league leading Macarthur Rams welcome the North West Sydney Koalas.

The Rams had to fight hard last week on their travel to the Central Coast where they came away with a victory by the odd goal. They sit atop of the league with a four point lead over their closest opponent.

The Koalas are desperate for points as the gap begins to get larger between them and the finals places.  They’ll take heart from their 0-0 draw against Manly and hope Helen Petinos along with Hannah Beard can make the difference for the Koalas.

North Shore Mariners v Football NSW Institute @ Northbridge Oval

Another big match in this round see’s the North Shore Mariners take on the Football NSW Institute.

The Mariners rescued a point late on in their match last week and will feel as though they could’ve stolen all three at the death. The finals race is hotting up with the Mariners sitting just inside in fourth place on the ladder.

Victory for the Institute on Sunday will throw them right in for the fight for finals. A loss could see them fall off the pace and would make it very hard for them to sneak into fourth place.

Sydney University v Central Coast @ Wilson Park

Wilson Park will host the clash between Sydney University and the Central Coast on Sunday.

Uni hasn’t won in their last four matches, a statistic that will have Heather Garriock worried. A better run of results through June could’ve seen them challenging for the Premiership.

The Coast lost again on Sunday but showed incredible fight against the league leaders, losing by the odd goal in a five-goal thriller. They won’t lie down for anyone and will make sure they give Uni a hard time come the weekend.
