In the lead up to the Westfield W-League kicking off, Football NSW will host a Female Football Festival at Valentine Sports Park as part of a nation-wide push to launch the 2015/16 season.
Partnering with Sydney FC, Football NSW have invited girls teams from across the state to take part in the festival, aimed at celebrating female participation in football and strengthening links between grassroots football and the Westfield W-League.
Girls participating will play in non-competitive matches throughout the day, and then have the opportunity to meet their heroes from the Sydney FC W-League team. The festival will culminate in Sydney FC facing off against a PS4 NPL NSW Women’s 1 side in a preseason friendly.
The Female Football Festival is also designed to provide additional football opportunities for the SAP Pilot Program players to play in a gala day environment.
Scheduled to take place on Saturday 26th September at Valentine Sports Park, the Female Football Festival is set to build momentum for the Westfield W-League season. Following the success of the Westfield Matildas at this year’s FIFA World Cup, this year is shaping to be one of the biggest seasons yet.
There will be no cost to the participant or club for the Female Football Festival, providing a wonderful opportunity for all girls in the U10 and U12 age grades.
