Futsal Premier League Round 2 Preview
It’s Futsal Fright Night this Halloween Saturday featuring a ghoulish lineup of trick or treat matches including Dural versus Mountain Majik, Enfield against Mascot, while Inner West host UTS Northside and South Coast play Campbelltown.
South Coast Taipans v Campbelltown Quake
Saturday 31st October
5:40pm
UOW Sports Hub
South Coast Taipans welcome Campbelltown Quake to the University Of Wollongong Sports Hub on Saturday evening (5.40pm) with both teams looking for some long-awaited success. Campbelltown have now lost five league games in a row following last week’s 6-2 slump to Enfield, while South Coast are six games without a league win after surrendering their premier position in 2012. It was certainly close the last time they met, Quake winning 5-4 at Minto, following a 6-2 Campbelltown triumph earlier in the 2011/12 season.
Dural Warriors v Mountain Majik
Saturday 31st October
7:55pm
Dural Sport and Leisure Centre
Dural Warriors take on Mountain Majik at Dural Sport & Leisure Centre on Saturday (7.55pm) seeking to claim a new premier league record for consecutive victories. The open men conquistadors chalked up win number nine with a solid 6-0 performance against UTS Northside last weekend and one more takes it past its 2011/12-2012/13 run – and they’ll fancy their chances against Majik. The Mountaineers have managed just three scores in four losses to Dural, the Warriors bagging 23 goals to show a real dominance; but it was a close call last time they met at the Sport & Leisure Centre when Dural prevailed 2-1.
Enfield Rovers Mascot Vipers
Saturday 31st October
8:05pm
Morris Iemma Indoor Centre
Enfield Rovers and Mascot Vipers meet in a battle royale at Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre on Saturday (8.05pm). Both sides enjoyed winning 6-2 starts last week (Rovers beating Quake and Vipers over Majik), but history is definitely not on Mascot’s side – Enfield have won eight of their last nine league encounters (three wins by a solitary goal), the other result finishing 7-7. And Mascot won’t want it to be a tight game as Rovers are premier league’s close-game specialists winning 11 of 15 games (73%) decided by a goal over the past five seasons, while Vipers have the worst record winning just two of 14 (14%).
Inner West Magic UTS Northside
Saturday 31st October
8:30pm
Valentine Sports Park
Inner West Magic will be wary of UTS Northside when the sides meet at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday (8.30pm). While Inner West enjoyed a 12-game unbeaten run last summer (joint-high with Dural’s 2013/14 sequence), their only regular-season loss came at the hands of UTS (6-3), and at the same venue. Inner West later beat Northside 5-3 but there was nothing between them again, and the same will apply this weekend.
