MiniRoos score a goal with Mebrahtu

Excited AIA Vitality MiniRoos youngsters at Valentine Sports Park were treated to a special guest in Western Sydney Wanderers’ Golgol Mebrahtu on a rainy spring afternoon on Tuesday 3rd of November.
Mebrahtu’s appearance provided the participants with an opportunity to chat to the Wanderers star in what it takes to becoming a professional footballer amongst other interesting questions.
The high flyer from Tony Popovic’s camp, who has returned to the pitch from injury, provided coaching tips and gave expert instructions during training drills much to the excitement of the youngsters on show.
This session played a vital part of the eight week AIA Vitality MiniRoos Kick Off program at Valentine Sports Park designed for kids of all abilities aged 4 to 11 years old.
The nationwide initiative uses short, game-based sessions to introduce the sport of football to newcomers in an inclusive way.
The program focuses upon:
•           Fun, football game-based sessions that build fundamental motor skills;
•           Activities aim to improve confidence and self-esteem;
•           Make new friends and develop fundamental social skills;
•           Develop values of team work, cooperation, fair play, and respect for others;
•           Keep healthy by getting active.
