Successful State Coaches Conference held at VSP
Hundreds of aspiring and eager coaches from across NSW were treated to a State Coaches Conference bonanza as Football NSW hosted the annual State Coaching Conference at Valentine Sports Park this past weekend (28th and 29th November).
With headline presenters Craig Foster, Ante Juric and Ante Milicic on hand in providing unique insights into the connection between the FFA National Curriculum and the National Playing Style Statement, from the youngest child first introduced to football to the National Teams of Australia, the Socceroos and the Matildas, the two days were marked as a huge success for all involved.
The coaches in attendance were joined by former Socceroos coach Les Scheinflug (Saturday) and former Socceroo striker Jim Patikas (Sunday).
Foster, capped 29 times for the Socceroos, presented an insight into decision-making for elite players and posed the question of whether or not we were creating the correct environment for our players to improve decision-making.
Current Young Matildas head coach Ante Juric provided an update on the evolving women’s game in Australia and the Matildas road to the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
Socceroos Assistant coach Ante Milicic gave a detailed account of the preparation required for the National Team when they prepared for the FIFA World Cup in 2014, the AFC Asian Cup and current FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.
While finally, Football NSW Technical Director Alex Tobin also presented the current state of the game in NSW and future direction in relation to the Whole of Football Plan.
“All coaches enjoyed themselves from all accounts and came away from this conference with plenty of knowledge and opportunities to network with their colleagues around NSW,” said Tobin.
Coaches who attended Saturday’s course were also fortunate enough to have Eric Abrams, Australian Technical Director, present on his “First 100 days” report and the future direction of Australian Football.
