Mountain Majik v UTS Northside

Valentine Sports Park 8.20pm Saturday 13 February

Mountain Majik meet UTS Northside in a do-or-die clash to avoid the wooden spoon. Both sides showed promise this summer but struggled for results to embroil themselves in a three-way cellar-brawl with the Mountaineers (-29 goal-difference) and Taipans (-38) tied on nine competition points, two ahead of Northside (-20).

A UTS draw or loss leaves them bottom, while a win pushes them to a safe 10 points and thrusts the spoon-spotlight on the Coasters. An unlikely double-figure Northside victory – or a surprise South Coast success against Mascot – exposes Majik to a possible last-place finish. It’s been tight in every contest, a 4-3 UTS win bracketed by 2-1 and 5-3 Majik victories.

South Coast Taipans v Mascot Vipers

University Of Wollongong Sports Hub 6.10pm Saturday 13 February

Finals-bound Mascot Vipers face strugglers South Coast Taipans but this is no easy one to pick. The Coasters are fighting for league survival (just seven club championship points ahead of Campbelltown) and need everything they can get, while Vipers have enjoyed a stellar surge into the post-season for the first time in six years and will want to maintain their momentum.

Mascot’s biggest ever league win was an 8-1 demolition of South Coast way back in October 2011, but they tripped up down south where Taipans edged them 4-3, with Vipers making amends with a 5-2 win last December.
