Khamis praises Female Football Week
Female Football Week has come a long way since its early beginnings.
Matildas, Sydney FC and Macarthur Rams star Leena Khamis has seen this football imitative grown from strength to strength especially since her early beginnings as a promising young footballer.
The Recent success of the Matildas earning a spot in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio will only increase popularity for the game in Australia.
“I think female football week running over a week is a perfect way to show how big the sport in this country is now.
“The week is a time to focus solely on the females playing football and show just how much the game keeps growing.
“There is such massive support nation-wide for female football now.”
On football, dreams do really come true as Khamis stated to Football NSW who did just when she scored at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.
Khamis was also part of another ‘dream’ when the Matildas made the Quarter Final of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
Having won 25 caps for the Green and Gold, Khamis is currently plying her trade in the PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s for the Macarthur Rams.
In the Westfield W-League, Khamis enjoyed a successful season, suiting up for Sydney FC and getting to this year’s Grand Final where they bowed out to a star studded Melbourne City outfit.
After some horrific injuries, the deadly striker showed her mental and physical strength to continuously overcome adversity.
Khamis keeps herself busy throughout the year, playing with Sydney FC in the summer and Macarthur during the winter.
She is currently working hard with the Rams in pre-season as Round One sees Macarthur take on the North West Sydney Women’s Koalas on Sunday 10th of April at Lynwood Park.
