Girls football participation numbers and playing opportunities are on the rise in 2016 as clubs like Mosman FC become the first to offer exclusive girls only introduction to football programs.

Mosman FC held their inaugural AIA Vitality MiniRoos Kick Off For Girls program during the preseason, located in Manly-Warringah FA, to drive female participation of their MiniRoos age groups, 5 – 11 years.

The six-week program provided 18 girls the chance to try football prior to signing up for the winter season ahead.

Using fun and exciting game based exercises the girls had a blast, making new friends, learning new skills and eventually impressing 25,000 spectators as they took to the field at half-time of the Caltex Socceroos v Jordan game on Tuesday night.

Amanda Walker and Drew Taylor of Mosman FC were the driving force behind the program at Mosman FC as they saw the need for a girl’s exclusive environment to learn football within, whilst ensuring all girls were engaged and having fun.

All 18 players from the AIA Vitality MiniRoos Kick Off program have transitioned over to club football with Mosman FC after being impressed by not only the standard of coaching on offer but also the friendly and inviting community feel of the club itself.

Mosman FC, along with West Pymble FC, Parklea FC and FC Five Dock were rewarded for their efforts during the preseason in becoming AIA Vitality MiniRoos Kick Off sites by having their players take to the field at half-time during the recent Socceroos victory against Jordan on Tuesday night.

Players, parents and coaches were thrilled with the opportunity, which highlights the great additional benefits clubs have access to as a Kick Off program deliverers.
