It was a fantastic start to the 2016 PlayStation 4 NPL NSW Women’s competition last week.

More exciting action awaits us in round 2 across five games.

Emerging Jets V North Shore Mariners

This can in somewhat go down as the ‘F3’ derby considering it’s a Jets verse Mariners fixture.

Neither side registered three points over the weekend and will be keen to etch in their first wins of the season.

The Jets had a tough away trip against the Champions last week, going down 3-0. They’ll look for an immediate response but it won’t come easy against a strong Mariners outfit.

Spencer Prior’s team will not be happy with the two points dropped last week in the dying embers of the game.

Setting the record straight will be at the top of their agenda and a squad boasting some of the names it does will be hoping to continue improving as the season rolls on.

Manly United V Macarthur Rams

A fantastic football match is in the making at Cromer Park as Manly United host Macarthur Rams.

With a squad average of just 19, Manly did fantastically well last week against the Stingrays, collapsing slightly in the second half.

They’ll look to exploit the Rams with their youth on Sunday as they look to get win number one of the campaign.

There was some shock at Lynwood Park last week as the reigning Premiers went down.

Norm Boardman will be looking to the experience of Captain Renee Rollason to lift her team.

North West Sydney Koalas V Sydney University

The Koalas host their first home game of 2016 against Sydney University at ELS Hall Park.

After an impressive first round victory away to the Macarthur Rams, the Koalas’ tails will be up and confident they can spring a surprise on Sunday.

In front of them though will be a team who comfortably beat them only two weeks ago in the Cup final 5-2, with some potential revenge on the cards.

For Uni, their perfect start to the campaign continued on Sunday with another high scoring victory.

Heather Garriock’s attack is on song already, something that will please her along with her team’s fantastic performances so far.

Marconi Stallions V Illawarra Stingrays

It will be a 2013 rematch at Marconi Stadium as the Illawarra Stingrays take on the Marconi Stallions.

It was an enjoyable return to top flight football for the Stallions, squeezing in win number one last week.

With Stephen Neligan’s side boasting former Matilda and W-League star Joanne Burgess in the squad, they’ll be hoping to go two from two.

The last time the Stingrays travelled to Bossley Park, they put five passed a hapless Stallions side.

Having recorded a fantastic victory in round one, with both Michelles (Hayman and Carney) already getting on the scoresheet, coach Earle Canvin will be excited at what future games hold.

FNSW Institute V Blacktown Spartans

Football NSW Institute will host their first home match of the season at Valentine Sports Park as they take on the Blacktown Spartans.

The Institute will be competitive as Craig Foster slowly moulds his team to play the system he wants.

They gave a fantastic account of themselves last week and may be ruing not getting at least a point.

Last season, the Spartans were known for their fighting spirit and they showed they still have it this year, scoring a late equaliser to steal a point against the Mariners.

Paul Costantini will be hoping his girls can get win number one on the board and start making their way up the ladder.
