Granville clubs ready for Grassroots Football Friday’s
In an exciting step forward for the Granville and Districts Football Association, a regular season match between the Granville Rage and Hills Brumbies Over 35 Men’s will be held at Valentine Sports Park for the first time as part of Football NSW’s Grassroots Football Friday’s.
As part of the Grassroots Football Fridays initiative, football teams from all over New South Wales have the chance to play their club games at the Home of Football.
At no charge to the association the clubs, the games are played under lights and on a state-of the-art synthetic pitch.
This Friday’s match will see the Hills Brumbies O35 side take on Granville Rage, with a 7.45pm kick-off on Field 2.
Brumbies manager Tristan Ivorys believes the initiative presents great opportunities for grassroots clubs.
“It’s absolutely fantastic, they [Football NSW] should be applauded for it. It’s a very positive step.
“I think the clubs should all try to take advantage of this initiative.”
Ivorys says his side would be crazy to turn down an opportunity to play at a ground like Valentine Sports Park.
“The boys are all looking forward to it. They’re looking forward to playing on a great pitch and having a great contest.”
Their Granville opponents agree that it will offer a fantastic spectacle, with the chance to play on a synthetic pitch not to be missed.
“It’s a great opportunity for the guys,” said Granville Rage contact Vic Zappia.
“They don’t get this experience every week, they’re pretty excited about it.”
