NSW PSSA Boys’ Football State Carnival

The 2016 NSW PSSA Boys’ Football State Carnival concluded at Valentine Sports Park on Friday as Football NSW’s headquarters took in three days of high octane schools football matches that saw over 800 players and spectators flood through the venue daily.

The year 2016 was a special one for the NSW PSSA as it has been officially recorded as being the largest Primary School Carnival of its kind in Australia.

Teams from the South Coast, North Coast, Western, North West, Riverina, Barrier, the Hunter and Sydney Metropolitan areas such as Mackillop, Sydney East, Sydney North, Sydney South West, Sydney West and a Combined Independent Schools team all took part in what was a memorable tournament.

In what was a thrilling final day of play it was Sydney West coached by Alex Watson and managed by Steve Knight whose team played out a 3-3 draw against Sydney North coached by Andrew Smith and managed by Peter Cardy which resulted in both teams being crowned joint winners.

Following the tournament, a New South Wales team was selected to take part at the upcoming School Sport Australia Exchange to be held in Perth, Western Australia in August.
