With wild weather battering the state over the weekend, only two games of the five were completed in the PlayStation 4 NPL NSW Women’s competition.

Emerging Jets 2-1 Blacktown Spartans

The Blacktown Spartans made the long trip to Lake Macquarie Football Facility to take on the Emerging Jets on Sunday afternoon.

With Jets continuously improving as the season wore on, they were in search of their first points in 2016.

The Spartans on the other hand looked to bounce straight back from last week’s defeat against Marconi and put themselves into the finals places.

It started well for the away side though as they took the lead in the first half through a Samantha Nagy strike.

The Spartans held this advantage moving into the break.

The second half saw a complete turn around on the scoreboard as the young home side put two goals away to give them a 2-1 victory.

Their first points of the season couldn’t have come in a better way, showing true fight to over-turn their half time deficit.

Defeat for the Spartans means they missed the chance to move back into the ‘top four’ and with all their opponents having a match in hand it will be a real fight for them till the end of the season.

Paul Costantini will need to act fast to ensure his team get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

Manly United 2-1 Football NSW Institute

The rain really hit the North Shore on Sunday but Manly United and the Football NSW Institute match went on.

Manly had gathered a bit of momentum and a win here would really throw them into the race for a finals place.

The Institutes chances were slowly fading with points imperative for them as well.

Two young sides gave it there all in horrible conditions as United came away with the win by the odd goal.

Teen sensation Remy Siemsen picked up a goal for the home side while the other was the result of an goal.

Manly remain in eighth place on the ladder but are now within touching distance of their competition and if they can continue their good form, anything is possible.
