The temperature continues to drop as the action in State League Women’s heats up and the ladder starts to take shape with more pulsating football to come this weekend.

UNSW Lions vs Gladesville Ravens, Sunday 19th June, David Phillips Field

UNSW Lions lie second only a point behind SD Raiders and look to possibly go top if results fall their way this weekend.

Renato Jelen has the Lions playing exciting football with 38 goals in eight games thus far this season and a forward line hungry for more.

Georgia Goulding and Rachelle Godman sit one and two in the goalscoring charts and will be a tough task for the Ravens defense to contain.

Gladesville Ravens have Isabella Breukelaar to complete an exciting match up to warm up a winter’s weekend.

Western NSW Mariners vs APIA Leichhardt Tigers, Sunday 19th June, Glen Willow Stadium

After the bad weather has forced them into a two-week break – the Mariners are back in action against the 3rd placed Tigers.

Mariners coach David Godbier will fancy their chances after their 2-1 triumph back in round four when the Tigers sat top of the pile.

For APIA coach Matteo Maiorana wants his team to keep their standards high after they were lackluster in the victory over Mt Druitt last weekend.

Maiorana will lean on Lucy Gilfedder to create from the wing and make for a uncomfortable afternoon for the Mariners defense in a vital clash.

Parramatta FC vs SD Raiders, Sunday 19th June, Melita Stadium

Parramatta FC look to play spoiler against the competition leading SD Raiders this Sunday at Melita Stadium.

It’s a busy week for the SD Raiders who played their round nine catch up game Wednesday before taking on an improving Parramatta FC.

Despite the loss, Alexandria Colosimo stood out for Parramatta with her hustle in midfield to get them back into the contest at 2-1.

SD Raiders present a stern challenge for the home side as they look to keep the chasing pack at bay with another strong game Sunday afternoon.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers vs St George FC, Sunday 19th June, Popondetta Park

St George FC have strung together some good results and head to Mt Druitt to continue their winning ways.

Saints coach Carlo Tini will have his side practicing their shooting after a frustrating afternoon in front of goal against Parramatta FC.

Jessica Carosi bagged a double against the 8th placed side and her combination with Lily Chen prised them open several times.

Mt Druitt have started to improve themselves and could jump to sixth with a positive result against an inconsistent St George FC in this weekend’s most intriguing contest.
