First time all Girls Football clinic takes centre stage
Football NSW in conjunction with NSW Sport and Recreation recently hosted a special two-day all girls football clinic in Bankstown as part of promoting the world game to interested female participants.
Twenty-seven aspiring young female stars took part in the event which was headlined by former Westfield Matildas star and Football NSW’s Game Development Officer for Women & Girls Servet Uzunlar who took the girls through a series of skills and drills across the two days.
Day one saw special exercises designed for running with the ball as well as skills drills while day two showcased the art of how to shoot as well as various 1 v 1 matches organized.
Small sided matches proceeded soon after both sessions as the girls thoroughly enjoyed what were insightful days run by Uzunlar.
“It was certainly a fantastic experience for the girls to be part of what was a great two days of football education and coaching.
“I can safely say that each girl had a great time where they sharpened up their football skills as well as enjoying it with huge smiles on each of their faces.
“It is refreshing to be able to provide a special clinic in the Bankstown area for the very first time – an area steeped rich in football history and pride with a number of female and male players coming through the system, becoming future Matildas and Socceroos stars.”
