Round 15 Review – State League Women’s

It was a beautiful weekend of sunshine after the rain interruptions last week, as all four matches were played in another action packed round of State League football.
Western NSW Mariners 4 defeated Parramatta FC 0
Western NSW Mariners created a five point gap at the top of State League Women’s with a thorough display in the weekend’s early kick-off.
The Mariners once again played on both Saturday and Sunday and collected a vital six points in both fixtures.
Today they shared around the scoring with four different goalscorers as coach Michael Godbier was proud of their effort under the circumstances.
Brianna Trappett and Jess Salomoni got themselves on the scoresheet again while Alyssa Armstrong and Teegan Courtney added the other two.
SD Raiders 2 drew with St George FC 2
The Raiders were forced to share the spoils in a tough contest against St George FC this afternoon at Ernie Smith Reserve.
Dominique Caridad lead from the front once again for the home side with a brace to put them in a good position for all three points.
St George FC have shown good spirit in the last couple weeks and battled hard for the point. Taylor Moore and Ashley Miller scored for them.
The result sees the Raiders slip to fourth position on the ladder following other results this weekend.
Gladesville Ravens 0 defeated by APIA Leichhardt 1
Gladesville Ravens pushed the second placed APIA Leichhardt Tigers to the limit but the Tigers scored the lone goal to take all three points.
Captain Lucy Gilfedder was a colossus in the midfield and was rewarded with a goal for the performance.
She was ably deputised by Koo Barbi as both midfielders covered every blade of grass at Peel Park this afternoon.
Afterwards APIA coach Matteo Maiorana was delighted to get the victory in an arm wrestle against a Gladesville side who played some nice football.
Mt Druitt Town Rangers 2 defeated by UNSW Lions 3
UNSW Lions did it tough but secured three important points against the battling Mt Druitt Town Rangers at Popondetta Park today.
Emily Fardell continued her goalscoring run with another brace to put the Lions ahead 2-1 at the halftime break.
Georgia Goulding added the third goal for the Lions to make it sixteen for the season for the UNSW Lions midfielder.
Mt Druitt fought until the end and Lisa Fressard scored in each half to give the Lions a scare.
