Dee Why FC celebrate 70 years
Dee Why FC celebrated their 70th football season last weekend with the club hosting a mammoth presentation day at Dee Why Oval which included Junior presentation, Coaches vs Kids and finally the ‘DYFC Legends vs DYFC Future Stars’ exhibition match.
The day attracted well over 500 people, both players and parents, with Football NSW getting involved to add some competition to the day.
The MiniRoos shooting target had a constant stream of participants as players tried to better there shooting technique and be the most accurate of their age group.
Dee Why FC extended their playing opportunities in 2016 by conducting an AIA Vitality MiniRoos Kick Off program aimed at engaging toddlers from 3 – 5 years old.
Bojan Nikic, Program Leader spoke of the program as “investing in the future of DYFC and Australian football”.
He continued to state to Football NSW that, “The program gives an opportunity to young kids to experience training at DYFC through a nationally recognised and sponsored football program.
“We hope that through this program we can attract local kids to DYFC and establish a long term sustainable steady flow of new players at the club.
“We are also looking at the bigger picture and we hope that through this program we are contributing to the long term success of football in Australia.”
The day, and season as a whole has been a successful one and we at Football NSW would like to congratulate Dee Why FC on reaching the 70-year mark.
We look forward to 70 more strong years of football development and community focus.
Bojan Nikic, MiniRoos coach at DYFC echoed these sentiments.
“On behalf of the club I would like to thank Football NSW for the ongoing support this year.
Their involvement with our club has made a huge different, and we look forward to working with you again in 2017.”
