Kuchappan honoured by Inter Lions
Inter Lions O/45s recently paid their respects to the passing of long standing CDSFA referee, Joseph Kuchappan, during the opening round of their Champions of Champions tournament last weekend.
The entire Inter Lions squad wore black armbands in honour of Kuchappan, and organised for a minute’s silence prior to the kick off of their match against Glenmore Park O/45s, from the Nepean Association.
Inter Lions then went on to progress to the next round of this year’s tournament courtesy of an 8-1 triumph, going on with the match in the second half after leading 3-1 at half time. Frank Speranza and Joseph Bartolillo grabbed two goals each, whilst Adrian Ciscato, David Burns, Patrick Everest and Vladimir Cvetkovic also found the net on the day. Inter Lions will now face Engadine Eagles from the Sutherland Association in the quarter final round on October 9th.
Immediately upon completion of the match, Inter Lions dedicated the victory to Kuchappan, for his efforts on and off the park, both with the whistle as a well-respected referee, as well as a hard working administrator for the Canterbury & District Soccer Football Association
