Granville & District Soccer Football Association side Toongabbie FC have commenced its journey with the AIA Vitality MiniRoos program after recently running a skills session at Girraween Park via club volunteer coach and parent, Anthony Thomas.

This is the first time the club has run a skills program for MiniRoos program, something Thomas was proud of, further displaying the team’s strong community spirit.

“The reason, I got involved in the MiniRoos program, is because I love being around and involved with the kids.

“Also, so they can be exposed to all the football programs that are out there so they can participate in what they love doing, playing football.

“I want to do what my father did for me and help my kids and other kids learn about a great game.”

Thomas indicated that the MiniRoos program offers a good starting point for any young footballer wishing to kick start their journey in football.

“The program offers a great start to getting involved in to the game.

“The program offers kids that who have never played a chance to learn some skills before the season starts.

“This gives the kids a chance to see if they like the sport, without any pressure of the season starting.

“It also gives coaches like myself to learn more and different skills, and spread our knowledge to the new generation of football kids.”

Thomas praised Toongabbie FC as a club and its continual push for development of football in NSW.

“Toongabbie FC has a great junior/youth program – and recruits all its efforts to encourage young players to follow and play their career in football.

“Toongabbie FC has a great committee and push to pursue more great programs to develop the younger generation football stars.

“It’s development of young club referees is just one of the programs that we are getting the kids involved in.

“And now I have started the AIA MiniRoos program, to yet again build our club in the next generation of younger players.”
