Bankstown Football Association have received a boost to their 2017 football season after receiving $10,000 from their local council late last year.
Provided to assist in the hosting of a "Women’s Festival of Football", the grant was committed to by Canterbury Bankstown Council and is a huge win for the women’s game in the area.
Bankstown Football Association General Manager Shane Merry was presented with the grant at a ceremony in December at the Council Chambers in Campsie.
Servet Uzunlar, Game Development Officer for Women’s & Girls at Football NSW, was also present at the ceremony, and sees this as a great result.
"Bankstown Football Association continue to promote the women’s game and I look forward to working with them on the project.
“Congratulations to Shane Merry for all his hard work and efforts, and thank you to the Canterbury Bankstown Council for this funding.
"It’s fantastic to see local government supporting women’s football to this degree as we’re hoping for big growth in 2017."
The Bankstown FA Women’s Festival of Football is set to kick off on Sunday March 5th at Jim Ring Reserve which ties nicely into the national Female Football Week initiative held between March 8th and 19th.
