The Cottam Cup returns

Granville & Districts Soccer Football Association have brought back the historical Cottam Cup as it kick-starts the grassroots football season as the first major tournament for 2017.
The inaugural Cup commenced way back in 1907 when Pyrmont lifted the first ever trophy.
Granville & Districts Soccer Football Association President Seb Tas was eagerly anticipating what has been labelled as Australia’s oldest Cup competition.
“This is the Australia’s oldest football knock out competition and Cup and the Granville Association is proud to open the opportunity to players across Sydney to continue its proud history”.
This year’s format will bring together 32 teams competing for the prizemoney and more importantly, their name on the coveted trophy.
The Cup will comprise of 16 Premier League/All Age teams from within Granville and 16 Premier League/All Age teams invited by Granville from Associations within Football NSW.
The Finals will be played as well as filmed at Melita Stadium.
Granville & Districts Soccer Football Association CEO Mike Quarmby reiterated that this Cup tournament will provide a perfect pre-season platform for interested clubs across NSW prior to the commencement of their respective grassroots seasons.
“The Cottam Cup will be a great pre-season vehicle for competing teams getting ready for the season ahead.
“I do encourage teams to get behind what will be a fantastic Cup tournament.
“Good luck to all who have already registered as we cannot wait for that first whistle to sound.”
